PORT ANGELES — Emma Desjardins notched a hat trick, Pyper Alton assisted on three goals and Becca Manson headed in a corner kick as Port Angeles shut out North Mason 6-0 in an Olympic League girls soccer match at Peninsula College’s Wally Sigmar Field on Tuesday.
The Roughriders produced 29 shots on goal.
Desjardins opened the scoring off an assist from Manson in the ninth minute.
Alton recorded her first assist on a Mariah Traband goal in the 15th minute for a 2-0 lead.
Stella Fradkin recorded her first goal of the season, assisted by Teanna Clark in the 31st minute after a number of close calls this season.
“She’s a luxury for us coming off the bench,” Port Angeles coach Daniel Horton said. “Every game we put her in, she creates opportunities, and it was nice to see her get rewarded.”
Manson headed in an Alton corner kick in the 44th minute for a 4-0 lead.
“Pyper sent in a really clean corner and Becca came flying in to head one past the goalie,” Horton said.
Alton found Desjardins in the 49th, and Desjardins added an unassisted score on a deep ball in the 51st to round out the scoring.
Horton praised Cayleigh Alward for taking control on defense with the Riders down a couple of starters along the back line.
“She was stable and has been a rock in the middle,” Horton said. “And Becca Manson has been doing a little bit of everything.”
Port Angeles (6-2, 8-2) visits first-place Bainbridge (8-0, 8-1) tonight.
Cascade Christian 4, East Jefferson 2
PORT TOWNSEND — The Rivals played well but ended up a little short against Nisqually League-leading Cascade Christian on Tuesday at Memorial Field.
“I couldn’t ask for more from the girls,” coach Robert Cantley said. “They stayed in the game.”
Goalkeeper Lila Anderson earned a rare assist on a goal just before halftime.
“Lila punted it long down the field and it bounced over their defense and Rayna Pray jumped onto it and scored one-on-one,” Cantley said.
The Rivals added a goal off a corner kick in the 65th minute.
“Macy Little capitalized on a loose ball and put it in the net,” Cantley said.
“Couldn’t get the tying goal and Cascade scored about four minutes from time.”
Cantley said Fern French continued to play well as the team’s central defensive midfielder.
“She’s doing well at getting counterattacks going,” Cantley said.
“Olivia McClemans has been doing well pulling some strings and making nice passes and Teri Wiley is our standout in defense with her speed and strength.”
Cantley also said Sophia Vorraya also stepped in to play left back and played well.
East Jefferson (0-3-1, 2-7-1) visits Seattle Christian on Thursday.
Forks 4, Ilwaco 0
ILWACO — Forks’ Jade Blair has scored an incredible 13 goals in two matches as she notched a hat trick in a 4-0 win over Ilwaco.
It was the third straight win for the Forks girls. Blair had 10 goals in a 12-4 win over Winlock last week.
Viva Luna also had a goal in the Pacific 2B League win over Ilwaco, while Pearl Salazar played 72 minutes in goal to earn the shutout. LaRayne Blair also played eight minutes in goal.
Forks (2-0-0, 4-3-0) hosted Toutle Lake on Wednesday after press deadline. The Spartans next play at Onalaska on Monday.
In other games Tuesday, Kingston beat Sequim 2-1. Sequim (3-5-0) plays at North Mason (3-6-0) tonight.
