PREP SOCCER: Forks boys on a roll as Bellos notches four-goal game

Spartans have won six straight

FORKS — Ethan Bellos poured in all four Spartans goals as Forks won its sixth straight game Wednesday night, 4-1 over Tenino at Spartan Stadium.

Bellos tied the game up in the first half when the Beavers goalkeeper misjudged his shot.

“Keeper thought it must have been going out and let it go right past him,” coach Ismael Ramos said.

“He had the second on another cross with about 25 minutes left on the clock (55th minute).”

The final two insurance goals were high quality.

“His third goal he scored an Olympic goal off of a corner kick,” Ramos said. “It was kinda crazy because we were going against the wind and it was stormy.”

Bellos scored the last goal on a one-touch volley.

“Final goal Hector Dominguez got the assist. He crossed it in, and Ethan volleyed it into the back of the net,” Ramos said.

Ramos said his defense had been sloppy in the first half, allowing an easy breakaway goal, but it stiffened after halftime.

“Second half, they played astoundingly good defense,” Ramos said. “I was really proud of them for being able to recover and adjust like that.”

Forks (6-2-0, 7-3-0) faces No. 5 Elma (9-0-0, 9-0-2) tonight at home. The Spartans lost 10-0 to the Eagles in their second game of the season.

At that early date, Forks was still figuring out where and who would be playing after losing 10 senior starters to graduation in 2021.

“Just moving some people around, really and putting them in position to have success,” Ramos said.

“We’ve been on a pretty good little winning streak. Every game, the kids get more confident and play better. I think it will be a much different story [against Elma].”
