PREP SOCCER: East Jefferson falls 2-1 to Klahowya

PORT TOWNSEND — The East Jefferson boys soccer team outshot Klahowya and kept the game close, but defensive lapses cost the Rivals in a 2-1 loss.

The Rivals got off to a torrid 4-0-1 start to the season, including wins over 2A Port Angeles and Olympic, but Monday’s loss to the Eagles has East Jefferson looking for its first win since March 22.

“You have to give Klahowya credit, they battled and capitalized on their chances,” said coach Logan Stegner. “But we didn’t play our best game. We didn’t play well. Defensively, we fell asleep a few times.”

The Rivals outshot the Eagles 13-9. East Jefferson’s goal was scored unassisted by Alan Morales.

Still, it was not a league loss. East Jefferson, now 4-2-1 overall (0-1 in league play) next plays a nonleague match against The Northwest School at the Starfire Soccer Complex in Tukwila on Monday.
