Boys Soccer East Jefferson 3, Annie Wright 3

TACOMA — The East Jefferson boys soccer team picked up an important Nisqually League point in a 3-3 tie with Annie Wright this weekend.

The Rivals got up 2-0 in the first half.

“We had an amazing start,” said coach Logan Stegner. “The second half, we didn’t play bad, but we didn’t match up to the first.”

He said Annie Wright had three opportunities to score in the third and capitalized on all three, scoring on a free kick, a cross into the box and a penalty kick after a handball to tie the game at 3-all. Scoring for the Rivals were Jamison Henry, Rene Martin and Eduardo Martinez.

After the tie, the Rivals are 3-3-3 in Nisqually League play (3-5-3 overall), tied for fourth with 12 points.

“I think we’re going to be OK as far as district playoffs,” Stegner said.

The Rivals have a tough match Tuesday, playing first place Vashon (6-0-0, 7-1-0) at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Field in Port Townsend.
