BREMERTON — Sequim senior Pryce Glasser carded an even-par round of 36 to earn match medalist honors for the first time to lead the Wolves to a win on a difficult Olympic Course at Gold Mountain.

“The course, having just hosted a U.S. Open regional qualifier the day before, was playing really tough: strong, gusty winds blew the entire day and the greens were lightning fast,” coach Sean O’Mera said.

“Despite all this, Pryce played by far his best round of the year. He chipped in for birdie on hole No. 2, made a 15-foot birdie putt on No. 3, and then calmly rolled in a 12-foot straight downhill putt on No. 4 to start 3-under-par through four holes. Amazing,” O’Mera said.

“To have your No. 3 player beat everyone in the match speaks to not only how good Pryce has become, but how strong the team is in general,” he said.

Ben Sweet added a 1-over-par 37, including what O’Mera called a miraculous chip shot on the seventh hole.

“Facing a tough shot over a steep lip and down a fast green, Ben picked it beautifully, let it drip over the edge of the bunker, and watched it roll like a putt to the bottom of the cup,”O’Mera said.

Dominic Riccobene’s 43 and a 50 by Cole Smithson rounded out Sequim’s scorers.

The Wolves (8-0) host North Kitsap today at The Cedars at Dungeness.

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles girls tennis team had a near-sweep with all four doubles teams and a pair of singles players all beating Bremerton in straight sets.

Singles players Shannon Callahan and Waverly Mead won, while the doubles teams of Angeles Sprague/Kinnley Brady, Cindy Liang/Swyneth Van Blair, Bella Artios/Olivia Carrol and Sarah Tucker/Gillian Wolfe all won.

The one loss was by Liberty Lauer, who fell to Yume Isizaka 6-4, 6-2, but coach Stephanie Gochnour said she had the match of the day as most of her games came to deuce and the final score doesn’t reflect how close the match was.
