WESTPORT — Forks continued to tune up for the Class 2B Southwest District Tournament, running away from the Ocosta Wildcats in the second half of an 81-41 Pacific League victory Monday.
“They are improved from the first time we played them,” Spartans coach Rick Gooding said of Ocosta. “We didn’t start super fast, but once we got into a rhythm we were OK.
“Brody Lausche off the bench did a good job of defending their big lefty.”
Riley Pursley led Forks with 22 points and Logan Olson added 20.
“Second half, we got into some lanes defensively, got some run-outs and all of a sudden we were up 40 in the fourth quarter,” Gooding said.
The Spartans (9-4, 11-8) are scheduled to host Chief Leschi (9-2, 14-2) tonight.
“It’s a matter of seeding at this point and all we can do is win our game and hope for some help [to get the No. 2 seed],” Gooding said.
“We know Leschi will play full-court man defense, so we will need to be prepared for that tempo.”

Kingston 50, Sequim 41
KINGSTON — With the score tied at 27-all entering the fourth quarter, the Kingston Buccaneers sank 10 free throws in the final frame to split the season series with Sequim.
Sequim (3-7, 4-10) now trails Kingston (4-6, 7-8) for fifth place in the Olympic League race.
Isaiah Moore and Cade Smithson led the Wolves with 10 points apiece, while Keenan Green added nine.
Sequim is scheduled to host Port Angeles on Thursday.
