SEQUIM — The Sequim Wolves remained undefeated in volleyball with a pair of wins this past week, including one match against Blaine that went to 204 points.
The Wolves beat the Borderites in a nonleague match 3-1 (25-27, 25-21, 25-19, 32-30) on Saturday with two sets going to extra points.
Tayler Breckenridge had 20 kills and 22 digs in the win, while Jayla Julmist had nine stuff blocks, 29 block touches seven kills.
It wasn’t just power at the net for the Wolves in this match, as Kali Wiker served a perfect 22 for 22 with 19 assists and 19 digs and libero Isabelle Dennis served 15 for 15 with a season-high 25 digs.
“They were hitting the ball, we were hitting the ball,” said coach Jennie Webber-Heilman. She said she was especially impressed with the team’s defense.
“They were flying all over the court playing defense,” she said.
Webber-Heilman was most impressed that the Wolves bounced back after the Borderites had apparently seized control of that marathon fourth set. Blaine got up 10-3 and was still hanging on to a 21-15 edge when the Borderites started having trouble serving. The Wolves took advantage, Webber-Heilman said, forcing extra points.
Finally, with the score 30-30, Laticia Robideau scored a point with an ace to give the Wolves a 31-30 lead and then made another solid serve that resulted in Sequim winning the set and the match.
Brittney Gale was also 11 for 12 serving with 14 assists and 13 digs. Webber-Heilman said Gale and Wiker, the team’s two setters, were making good decisions all match.
In Thursday’s match against Olympic, Sequim also won 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-18).
“We spread our offense out pretty well against those guys,” she said.
Breckenridge had another match filling out the stat sheet, serving 17 for 19 with six aces, six perfect passes, nine kills and 16 digs.
Julmist had four kills and three aces, while Dennis had 22 digs. Wiker served a perfect 10 for 10 with seven assists and seven digs, while Gale was 10 for 11 serving with 10 assists and 10 digs. Arlene Law and Annika Christianson each added four kills.
Sequim (3-0, 4-0) is all alone in first place in the Olympic League 2A Division. The Wolves play a nonleague match at 6:15 p.m. today on the road against Klahowya (1-1, 2-2), then they play perennial powerhouse North Kitsap (1-0, 2-0) in Poulsbo on Tuesday to see how well they match up with the powerful Vikings.

Chimacum 5, Coupeville 0
CHIMACUM — The Chimacum girls got four goals from senior Grace Johnson and won their second win of the year with a shutout over former league rival Coupeville 5-0.
Jada Trafton also scored a goal in the victory. Savannah Huntingford, Claire Johnson and Zoe Justice all picked up assists.
“This is a great team. We’ve got a solid group of seniors who have been playing together for four years,” said new coach Sarah Hanke. “Our strongest asset is our seniors. They know what they’re doing.”
The Cowboys on Thursday also lost to Klahowya on Thursday 5-0, but the Eagles who went to the state 1A quarterfinals last season, are one of the toughest 1A girls teams in the state.
“We held them to five goals, I’m very happy with that,” Hanke said.
The Cowboys (0-1, 2-2) next play Port Townsend (0-0, 1-4) at home at 4 p.m. Tuesday in a league match.
