PORT ANGELES — Sequim’s Ben Sweet and Pryce Glasser tied for match medalist honors with rounds of 7-over-par 43 to lift the Wolves to a 183-234 boys golf win over Port Angeles on the front nine at Peninsula Golf Club.
“The Sequim boys didn’t have their best, but they played tough,” Wolves coach Sean O’Mera said. “The greens at Peninsula Golf Club were lightning fast. It presented a great challenge for the boys.”
Dominic Riccobene’s 45 and a round of 52 by Truman Nestor accounted for the other Sequim scores.
Port Angeles’ Edun Bailey led the Riders with a 55. Nate Andersen totaled a 58, Cyrus Mills a 60 and Winston Wait had a 61.
The Wolves edged the Riders 235-246 in the girls match.
“Match medalist was Eve Burke of Port Angeles with a career-best 55, 10 shots better then her last round,” Riders girls coach Mike DuPuis said. Burke was followed by teammates Saylah Commerton (61), Piper Williams (63), Jenna McGoff and Lauryn Chapman (67).
Sequim was led by Hannah Wagner and Janell Hill, who each carded 57. Jessica German added a 59 and Delaney Nucci a 62 for the Wolves.
“I was proud of the PA girls performance considering how inexperienced they are,” DuPuis said.

Sequim 4, Klahowya 2
SILVERDALE — The Wolves built a 3-0 lead, withstood some strong counterattacks by the Eagles and came away with a late insurance goal to stay unbeaten.
“We really put the pressure on them early … and we did a good job of keeping that pressure up as we built our lead,” coach Ken Garling said.
Ethan Knight scored first in the 35th minute, cleaning up on a scrum inside the 6-yard box.
“The opportunities were there for us in the first half, and in the second half, the boys came out fired up and wanted to continue pressuring them,” Garling said.
Kristian Mingoy buried a goal off an assist by Aidan Braatan in the 48th minute, and Rafael Flores headed in a well-placed corner kick by Brandon Charters in the 50th minute.
“Rafael positioned himself perfectly, and the pass was on target,” Garling said.
Klahowya’s Michael Divano, a player who has trained in Spain and has pro soccer hopes, answered with a pair of goals.
“Up 3-0, we felt pretty confident, but their striker No. 9 got cooking,” Garling said. “Our defensive back four had done a good job of keeping him under wraps, but he’s a pretty talented kid.”
Sequim was able to buckle down and deny Divano and added its fourth goal on an Aidan Henninger strike to the lower left corner.
Girls Tennis
Sequim 5, Olympic 2
SEQUIM — The Wolves’ No. 4 doubles team of Lindsay Swanson and Jordan Hegtvedt rallied for a 2-6, 7-5 (12-10) tiebreaker victory to boost Sequim, which also saw straight-set wins by Kalli Wiker, Allie Gale and the doubles duos of McKenna and Kendall Hastings and Melissa Porter and Amanda Weller.
East Jefferson 5, Klahowya 2
CHIMACUM — Maddies Hess, Juniper Cervenka and Myka Briggs swept their singles matches to lead East Jefferson to a win.
Briggs nearly let her first-set lead slip but came out on top 7-5, 6-0 (10-5) in a tiebreaker.
East Jefferson’s Sophie Arnovitz and Tiffany Bell and Lily Morrison and Sophia Frank also claimed doubles wins.
Port Angeles 6, Central Kitsap 1
PORT ANGELES — Liberty Lauer and Shannon Callahan earned straight-set singles wins, and the Riders swept the doubles competitions to stay unbeaten (3-0).
Emma Olsen and Hannah Reetz, Reagan Critchfield and Eden Critchfield, Angelina Sprague and Brielle Keywood, and Ellie Getchell and Kinnley Brady paired to win their doubles matches in straight sets.
