SEQUIM — Both the Port Angeles and Sequim tennis teams won Monday, setting up a battle between the two undefeated squads to be held Thursday afternoon in Sequim.
Sequim, technically still the defending 2A state champion from 2019, beat North Kitsap 7-0, with all three singles players not even giving up a game.
Port Angeles beat Bremerton 6-1, with three doubles teams not losing a single game.
Sequim 7, North Kitsap 0
Sequim’s No. 1 singles Kalli Wicker, No. 2 singles Olivia Preston and No. 3 singles Melissa Porter all won by the identical scores of 6-0, 6-0.
The Wolves’ No. 1 doubles team of McKenna and Kendall Hastings won 6-0, 6-0. Allie Gale and Amanda Weller won their doubles match 6-0, 6-4.
The Wolves’ No. 3 and No. 4 doubles teams had to work a little harder. Sydney Sandstrom and Mallory Morey won 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, while Lindsay Swanson and Jordan Hegtvedt came from behind to win 2-6, 6-4 (10-3).
Port Angeles 6, Bremerton 1
The Roughriders won all their singles matches. No. 1 singles Liberty Lauer won 6-2, 6-0, No. 2 singles Emma Olsen won 6-0, 6-3 and No. 3 singles Hannah Basden won 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles play, No. 2 doubles Regan and Eden Critchfield won 6-0, 6-0, No. 3 doubles Kinnley Brady and Ellie Getchell won 6-0, 6-0, and No. 4 doubles Millie Long and Holly Jones won 6-0, 6-0.
The No. 1 doubles team had a long match, but fell in the end. Hannah Reetz and Shannon Callahan lost to Pattucia and Jocelyn Reyes 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Thursday’s match begins at 2 p.m. and is the final match of the year for both teams.
Kingston 5, East Jefferson 2
CHIMACUM — East Jefferson’s Juniper Cervenka and Myka Briggs won their singles matches Monday against Kingston.
Cervenka won her match 6-4, 7-6, while Briggs won 6-1, 6-0.
East Jefferson’s Maddie Hess lost a close one 7-6, 6-4.
In doubles play, Sophia Arnovitz and Tiffany Bell lost 6-1, 6-4, Olivia Mattern and Katie Clark were beaten 6-3, 6-1, Sophia Frank and Lily Morrison lost 6-3, 6-3, and Savannah Gallaway and Caitlyn Boyd lost 6-4, 6-3.

Sequim 6, Olympic 1
SEQUIM — The Wolves got a hat trick from Eli Gish and three more goals to romp over Olympic 6-1 in their final home game, improving their record to 9-0.
Gish got three straight goals in the 33rd minute, the 42nd minute and the 60th minute, said coach Ken Garling.
Also scoring was Kristian Mingoy in the 23rd minute on a header on a corner kick by Brandon Charters, who got the assist.
Charters picked up a goal in the 25th minute on an attempted cross that floated over the goalie’s hands and into the corner of the net, Garling said.
A junior varsity player brought up to play varsity, Sola McGruther, got the Wolves’ final goal in the 75th minute with an assist to Tyler Lawson.
“Lawson had a nice assist and put [McGruther] in space with the ball. He was super excited,” Garling said.
The Wolves (9-0) have two more road games to try and complete a perfect, undefeated season, albeit both games are against solid teams, so it will be a challenge. They play at Kingston (6-3) today and at North Kitsap (4-3) on Saturday.
