PREP ROUNDUP: Sequim soccer shuts down Kingston in district playoff tuneup

SEQUIM — Sequim poured in four goals in a senior-night triumph over Kingston on Wednesday.

“The biggest emphasis for us recently is finishing and scoring, and we have been able to do that in the last couple of games,” coach Ken Garling said.

Garling said the Wolves dominated possession for much of the game, breaking through just before halftime.

“Rafa Flores got things rolling in the 33rd minute,” Garling said. “He followed up his shot that bounced off the goalkeeper and a defender, stayed with it and put it in net.”

Ethan Knight added the second score just after halftime.

“A tremendous solo goal, an overhead kick with his left foot that beat the keeper,” Garling said.

Brandon Wagner added a third score in the 60th minute.

“A nice, left-footed shot inside the box from about 15 yards, low and hard to the corner,” Garling said.

Cristian Gonzalez finished it up with a penalty kick in the final minutes.

Sequim (10-5) will find out its district-tournament seeding this weekend and begin district play Tuesday.
