SEQUIM — The No. 2-ranked Sequim girls basketball team improved its sparkling record to 16-0 by crushing Kingston 72-28 at home Friday night.
The Wolves got up on the Buccaneers 23-6 in the first quarter and never looked back. They also outscored Kingston 19-3 in the third quarter.
The Wolves tallied 23 steals and had only five turnovers all game. Sequim was led by Jolene Vaara with 18 points, six rebounds, four steals and four assists, while Bobbi Mixon had 14 points and four steals and Jelissa Julmist scored 12 points to go along with five steals.
Hannah Bates had five points, nine assists and five steals and Dani Herman contributed eight points and eight rebounds. Sammie Bacon had seven rebounds.
Sequim (12-0, 16-0, No. 2 RPI) next plays on the road at Olympic (4-8, 7-9) at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
In other Friday night girls’ basketball games, East Jefferson beat Charles Wright 44-21 to improve the Rivals’ league record to 6-5.
East Jefferson, 7-8 overall, next plays Life Christian at home in Port Townsend at 5:30 p.m.

Neah Bay 100, Chief Kitsap 21
NEAH BAY — For the second straight game, the Neah Bay boys basketball team scored 100 points, beating Chief Kitsap 100-21 on Friday.
The Red Devils got a big game from a newcomer, Jekiah Lee-Moore, who hit six 3-pointers and poured in 24 points.
Makyah chambers shot 3-for-3 on his 3-pointers and scored 13, while Tyler Swan shot 7-for-9 from the floor and scored 14. Julian Carrick added 15 points and Jaden Halttunen 10.
Neah Bay (9-5) got up 63-3 by halftime before letting off the gas a bit in the second half. The Red Devils scored exactly 100 Tuesday against Clallam Bay and has other games this season of 99, 89, 83 and 80 points.
The Red Devils are set to play at Crescent at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

KINGSTON — The Sequim boys basketball team remained in third place among 2A schools in the Olympic League with a 55-29 win Friday over Kingston.
Keenan Green hit three 3-pointers and led the Wolves with 14 points. Zach Thompson and Isaiah Moore each scored 10, while Vince Carrizosa scored nine and Charlie Grider seven.
Sequim (6-6, 8-10) has a huge game at home at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Olympic (5-7, 6-9), which is one game behind the Wolves in the standings.
East Jefferson 50, Charles Wright 47
PORT TOWNSEND — The East Jefferson boys eked out a close 50-47 win over Charles Wright on Friday night to remain in the middle of the hunt for a playoff spot of the Nisqually League.
“It was a bit closer than we expected, but we’ll take the win,” said coach Emmanuel Abbott.
Keiden Guzman led the Rivals with 20 points. Abbott said 6-foot-6 Guzman did a good job of taking the ball to the hole against Charles Wright. Stuart Dow (6-foot-7) added seven blocks on defense and Abbott said Brody Moore also played a stellar game.
East Jefferson (4-7 in league, 7-8 overall) has a huge game at 7 p.m. Monday, hosting Life Christian (7-4, 7-8) in Port Townsend. The Rivals currently sit behind Bellevue Christian (5-8) for a playoff spot but are ahead of Klahowya (3-8). East Jefferson has some games to make up left in its schedule, including a game on the road Tuesday at Bellevue Christian.
Crescent 54, Clallam Bay 31
JOYCE — The Crescent boys basketball team got 22 points from Conner Ferro-May and improved its record to 11-4 on the season with a 54-31 victory Clallam Bay on Friday.
“Conner [Ferro-May] and Conner [Bauers] were able to get some key buckets in the second half,” said Crescent coach Chris Ferrier. “Clallam Bay was loaded for bear in the first half, they really put the screws to us and made us uncomfortable.”
Ferrier said the third quarter was huge for the Loggers, as they outscored the Bruins 16-6 to take control. “Coach [Amber] Hull did a really good job getting them prepared for us and we will have our hands full next week at their gym,” Ferrier said.
Bauers scored 12 for the Loggers and Kyler Love scored nine, while the Bruins were led by Daniel Cumming with 11 and Dylan Simmons with 10.
Crescent (2-1, 11-4) hosts a high-scoring Neah Bay team at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
