COUPEVILLE — Sequim cruised to a big 72-33 nonleague boys basketball win over Coupeville behind 21 points from Payton Glasser and 15 from Nate Despain.
“The boys really needed that victory,” said coach Gregg Glasser.
“What was most encouraging to me was how everyone shared the ball,” coach Glasser said. Eleven different Sequim players scored in Monday’s win. The coach said that often times there’s a drop-off when a team’s second unit enters the game, but against Coupeville, his team really raised its level of play when the second unit came in.
Glasser said that Jon Stipe had a good game defensively and that Cameron Welcher gave Sequim a good boost off the bench.
Glasser, still playing with a sprained knee, had 10 rebounds to go along with his points. Coach Glasser said the knee was still swollen and needed icing after the game, but that Payton said it is feeling better.
Kyler Rollness added nine points, while Konnor Parrish scored six points with seven rebounds and Welcher had six points.
Sequim also outboarded Coupeville 43-15.
Sequim (0-11, 3-15) played North Mason Tuesday. The boys’ last game of the year is 5:15 p.m. Thursday at home against Coupeville.

POULSBO — Chief Kitsap beat Crescent 76-23.
Crescent (2-5, 6-10) plays today at Neah Bay. The Loggers final home game is at 7:15 p.m. Friday against Clallam Bay.
Girls Basketball
Crescent 42, Chief Kitsap 23
POULSBO — Missing three starters, the Crescent girls got a lot of contributions from their bench players in a 42-23 win over Chief Kitsap.
“We were without 3 starters, but our bench filled those gaps better than I could have asked for. I knew we had strong girls on our bench and they really impressed me with their hustle and flexibility in filling those gaps,” said coach Kelly Serrianne.
Alyssa Hutto led the Loggers with 13 points, breaking 100 points for the season. McKenzie Brennan recorded her third double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Jasmine O’Neel had seven points and pulled down 20 rebounds, while Raine Westfall had six points and 12 rebounds for the Loggers.
Crescent (3-4, 6-10) play today at Neah Bay. The Loggers have their final regular-season game at 5:45 p.m. Friday against Clallam Bay.

Coupeville 37, Sequim 31
COUPEVILLE — The Sequim girls lost a nonleague game to Coupeville 37-31.
The game was a defensive struggle through three quarters, as Coupeville entered the fourth quarter holding a 19-17 lead. Coupeville outscored Sequim 18-14 in the fourth quarter.
Adrienne Haggerty led Sequim with nine points, while Ella Christiansen scored seven and Madison Green six.
Sequim (4-7, 6-12) played on the road Tuesday against North Mason in a game they had to win to have a chance at postseason. Sequim could end up in a two- or three-way tie for fourth (and the final postseason slot) in the Olympic League 2A Division.
The girls’ final home game of the year will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday against Coupeville.
