PREP ROUNDUP: Sequim baseball wins fourth straight

SEQUIM — The Sequim baseball team beat Kingston 7-3 for its fourth straight win, getting above .500 for the season.

The Wolves’ Ethan Staples and Brayden White combined to allow just six hits against Kingston. Staples went 5⅔ innings, allowing five hits and two earned runs while striking out nine. White went the final 1⅓, allowing one hit.

At the plate, six different Wolves had RBIs. Staples was 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a hit by pitch. Hunter Tennell was 2-for-2 with a run scored, RBI, a walk and hit by pitch.

Ayden Holland was 2-for-3 with a run scored, an RBI and a walk, while Zeke Schmadeke had a hit, a run scored, an RBI, a sacrifice fly, was hit by a pitch and stole two bases.

Sequim (4-6, 8-7) looks to extend its winning streak at 4:15 p.m. Monday at North Mason (3-7, 4-8).

SEATTLE — East Jefferson got another great pitching performance from Brody Moore and James Lattier, who combined to only allow three hits, but the Rivals couldn’t take advantage in a 5-3 loss Saturday.

Moore went three innings and allowed one hit and three earned runs. He struck out five.

Lattier pitched three innings, allowing two hits and one earned run. He struck out two.

Moore also went 2-for-3 at the plate, stealing a base and scoring two runs. Rylan Dunn had a hit, stolen base and an RBI, while Deken Lorenzen had a hit and Austin Glanz an RBI.

East Jefferson (1-9, 1-10) next plays at Cascade Christian (7-4, 7-4) at 4 p.m. Monday.
