SEQUIM — Six errors and nine walks defensively compounded with eight runners left on base torpedoed Sequim’s chances in an 11-7 Olympic League baseball loss to Bremerton on Tuesday.
The Wolves plated three in the home half of the seventh but couldn’t complete the rally against the Knights.
Connor Bear led the way with three hits, a stolen base and an RBI.
Toppy Robideau had a two-run single for the Wolves (0-9, 1-12).
The Wolves host North Mason on Monday.

BREMERTON — Improved passing led to a four-goal second half for the Roughriders in a victory over Olympic.
“It took a while, but it was nice to open the score up a little and get everyone some playing time toward the end of the second half,” coach Chris Saari said. “It was good for morale and nice to see the subs do well when they got their opportunities. Keeping a clean sheet, getting the result and the three league points keeps us alive in the playoff hunt.”
The same four players were involved in all of the Riders’ goals.
Dayton Williams scored off assists from Josiah Long in the 50th minute and Xander Maestas in the 58th minute, while Long found Kaleb Gagnon for a 63rd-minute goal. Gagnon found Maestas for the final score in the 65th minute.
Marcus Hogan earned his and the Riders’ first shutout of the season in goal.
“Jacob Miller and Damon Gundersen helped control the midfield for Port Angeles with their solid defensive play, ball winning and distribution,” Saari said.
Port Angeles (4-6-0, 5-6-0) hosts North Kitsap (5-3-0) today at Peninsula College.

POULSBO — The Sequim boys soccer team held off a comeback attempt from North Kitsap to take firm hold of second place in the Olympic League standings with a 3-1 road win.
“The boys were excited about the results,” said coach Ken Garling. “North Kitsap is always tough.”
With the victory, the Wolves have the best record in league among the 2A schools at 7-2 (20 points). Bainbridge, a 3A school, is leading the league at 9-0 (27 points).
Garling said Sequim had a goal to score early and accomplished that when Ethan Knight took a pass from Brandon Charters. The Vikings keeper and defender came out of goal and Knight chipped the ball over their heads into the net.
It was a very heads-up goal for him,” Garling said.
Rafael Flores scored in the 30th minute with an assist from Kristian Mingoy.
“We were definitely in the driver’s seat at that point,” Garling said.
North Kitsap mounted a furious comeback, scoring early in the second half on a penalty kick. “Really, for the next 15 minutes, they had the momentum. We kind of panicked,” Garling said. “Once we made a few adjustments and switched formation, then we managed just fine.”
With the Vikings pressing, the Wolves were able to counter-attack and Knight scored his second goal of the match in the 69th minute, with another assist going to Mingoy, for a critical insurance goal. Garling said Sequim had a lot of opportunities and really could have had four or five goals. Brandon Wagner in particular had a great solo run that nearly led to a goal, he said.
The Wolves have another huge challenge today with a game on the road against first-place Bainbridge.
Golf
Kingston 173, Port Angeles 181
KINGSTON — The Roughriders fared well at the always-difficult White Horse Golf Club. Edun Bailey led the team with a nine-hole round of 42, while Austin Worthington was a stroke back with a 43. Freshman Phoenix Flores posted a 46 and Nate Anderson added a 50 to round out the Port Angeles scores.
“Our young team is learning to deal with adversity while playing some great caliber teams,” coach Bob Anderson said.
Kingston’s Ashton Purser and Anthony Tran led the way with medalist honors after rounds of 41 apiece.
The Riders (5-2) host Bremerton today.
