SILVERDALE — The Port Angeles boys tennis team beat Klahowya 4-3 behind a 4-0 sweep from the Roughriders doubles’ teams.
Klahowa won all three singles matches.
“We’re still working on consistency, but I’m impressed with how our guys respond to adversity,” said coach Brian Gundersen.
Three of those doubles’ teams — Bo Bradow-Milo Whitman, Kyler Tourbin-Brady Nickerson and Daniel Basden-Lucas Jarnigan, all had to bounce back from second-set losses to win their matches.
Port Angeles (2-1, 2-1) hosts North Kitsap (2-0, 2-0) at 4 p.m. today.

Volleyball South Kitsap 3, Port Angeles 1
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles volleyball team lost a nonleague match to 4A South Kitsap 3-1, but the Riders played tough in the 171-point match.
“The girls played strong the first game and fought hard every set after that. There was a lot of overall improvement since last Thursday,” said head coach Christine Halberg.
South Kitsap won by the score of 25-15, 17-25, 25-20, 25-19.
Halberg said the Roughriders played more consistent in the match and showed “a ton of energy.”
Madison Cooke had 10 kills, three blocks and two aces, while Aeverie Politika had seven kills and three aces. Ava Brenkman added three kills. Camille Stensgard served for 10 points and Politika eight.
Halberg also said Emma Olson played the backcourt well as the Riders’ libero.
“Defensively we played stronger as a team. The girls played scrappy. It was a lot of fun tonight because they played with their hearts and played as a team,” Halberg said.
Port Angeles (0-1, 0-2) played a league match with Kingston (0-1, 0-2) on Tuesday night after press deadline. The Roughriders next play North Mason at home at 6:15 p.m. next Tuesday.
