Vashon 6, East Jefferson 0

VASHON — The Rivals didn’t do themselves any favors, allowing the defending Nisqually League champs to score the first two goals via penalty kick.

“That was tough to bounce back from,” coach Logan Stegner said. “We held in Vashon to 1-0 in the second half. I am proud of our guys for adapting in the second half and continuing to play hard all game long.”

“Vashon doesn’t hang onto the ball for very long, they pass fast and they know how to move off of the ball. It is challenging to stop. We have been encouraging our players to train fast during our training sessions, but I think they were introduced to a new level of fast from that game. Moving forward we will train faster, and coach our guys how to position themselves into open spaces to create better support our players when they have the ball.”

East Jefferson (1-1-0, 1-2-0) hosts Bellevue Christian tonight at 5:30 p.m.
