PORT TOWNSEND — The East Jefferson volleyball team took three games to win its second match in a row, blanking Vashon 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-20) in a Nisqually League match Monday.
Akira Anderson led the Rivals with seven kills and two aces. Sophie Patterson had three kills and a block, while Jessi Hawley had three kills, two aces and a block.
Ellise Gardner added five aces and a block, while Alyssa Vandenberg had two aces and two blocks. Macy Aumock had a pair of aces.
The JV team also won 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 15-12). Makayla Vandenberg led the team with three aces, a kill and a block. Luna Moloitis had two kills, while Rowan Santerre and Sophia Petta each had two aces.
The Rivals (2-5) will next play at Bellevue Christian today in another league match.
Girls soccer East Jefferson 2, Life Christian 0
PORT TOWNSEND — The East Jefferson girls soccer team picked up its third win out of its past four games and its third shutout of the year with a 2-0 blanking of Life Christian on Monday.
It was the Rivals’ first game since Sept. 22. Two games had been canceled due to COVID contacting and shortage of players on other teams.
“We didn’t play our best. We may have been a little bit rusty,” said coach Robert Cantley.
“We controlled the game fairly effectively. We had a good run of play in the second half,” Cantley said. “We worked on strengthening our strengths and improving our weaknesses.”
Ava Shiflett scored the Rivals’ first goal in the 25th minute with an assist to Clare Johnson. Kaylen Pray had East Jefferson’s second goal in the 52nd minute, with the assist going to Audrey Matthes.
Goalkeeper Savanna Hoffman made a pair of saves to collect the shutout and the win.
Cantley said Iris Mattern also had a solid game in the midfield.
“She was definitely our strongest player. She controlled the flow of the game,” he said.
East Jefferson (3-3) has now gone 3-1 in its past four games after starting the season 0-2. The Rivals’ next game is hosting Charles Wright at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Field in Port Townsend.
Boys tennis Port Angeles 7, Olympic 0
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles tennis team got a break in the weather and hosted the Olympic Trojans on Monday and won 7-0, not losing a single set and dropping only five total games.
“The guys hadn’t played a match in a while, so they were excited to get back to it,” said coach Brian Gundersen.
No. 2 singles player Edun Bailey had a perfect match, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Port Angeles is scheduled to next play at 4 p.m. today against Bainbridge, weather permitting.

SEQUIM — The Sequim singles players all won against a powerful North Kitsap squad Monday, but the Wolves’ doubles teams struggled against the Vikings’ doubles, dropping all four matches as North Kitsap won the match 4-3.
No. 1 singles Garrett Little won his match 6-4, 6-3, while No. 3 singles Koda Robinson won 6-2, 7-5.
No. 2 singles player Connor Bear had the match of the day and was named Sequim’s player of the day by coach Mark Textor. Bear lost his first set to Andrew Myers 5-7, but bounced back to win the next two sets 7-5, 6-2 to take the match.
Sequim next plays at North Mason today.
