PREP ROUNDUP: Port Angeles soccer, volleyball win final regular-season games

Port Angeles Roughriders

BREMERTON — The Port Angeles girls soccer team wrapped up its regular season with a 2-0 shutout over Bremerton, with Izzy Felton figuring in both goals.

The Roughriders (8-6, 8-6) qualified for the bidistrict postseason tournament as the third-place 2A team out of the Olympic League.

The Riders got a goal right before the end of the half in the 40th minute from Paige Mason with Felton getting the assist.

Felton scored on a header in the 79th minute on a crossing pass from Teanna Clark.

Kennedy Rognlien earned the shutout in goal, her seventh shutout of the season.

Rognlien is a sophomore and played center-back for the Riders last season.

“She has grown a lot this season,” said coach Daniel Horton.

With the win, the Riders were seeded No. 9 in the bidistrict tournament and host Renton at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wally Sigmar Field at Peninsula College. Sequim (11-3) is a No. 5 seed and goes on the road Tuesday to play No. 4 Enumclaw at 7 p.m., but the Wolves are in double-elimination because they are a high seed and they may host a second-round game Thursday.

As a lower seed, the Riders must win Tuesday to remain alive in the postseason.
