NEAH BAY — The Neah Bay girls basketball team walloped Coupeville 58-16 for its ninth straight win while the boys suffered a one-point loss to the Wolves in a 76-75 high-scoring affair.

The Neah Bay girls, ranked No. 1 in Ratings Percentage Index rankings, improved to 9-1. That one loss was in the season opener to 2A Sequim by just eight points. Sequim has gone on to a 12-0 record and the No. 2 ranking among 2A schools.

Neah Bay was led by Allie Green, who hit five 3-pointers and scored 23 points. Gracie Chartraw hit three 3-pointers and scored 13, while Angel Halttunen had eight points.

Neah Bay (9-1) next plays at home at 5:45 p.m. Friday against Northwest 1B League opponent Crescent.

Boys game

The Neah Bay boys got 20 points each from Jaden Halttunen and Makyah Chambers. Chambers hit four 3-pointers while Halttunen shot 6-for-10 from 2-point range. Tyler Swan shot 5-for-6 on his free throws and added 11 points, while Buddy Aguirre scored eight.

The Red Devils were hurt by the Wolves’ Logan Downs, who scored 36 points.

Neah Bay (4-4) next plays at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at Clallam Bay.
