SILVERDALE — The Sequim baseball team got monster games from brothers Johnnie and Michael Young to rally late from a four-run deficit, crushing a good Klahowya team 13-6 in a nonleague road game.
The Wolves got lightning from Michael in the form of four stolen bases and three runs scored and thunder from Johnnie, who hit two home runs — including a grand slam — and drove in seven runs total. Michael even pitched a scoreless seventh inning to put the Eagles away in Monday’s win.
Klahowya was up 6-2 in the sixth inning when the Wolves rallied, scoring 11 runs in the next two innings. A two-run single by Joey Oliver made the score 6-5. Then Johnnie Young, who already had an RBI earlier in the game from a sacrifice fly, drove in Oliver and himself with his first home run to give Sequim a 7-6 lead.
Johnnie was just getting started. In the seventh inning, the Wolves scored a run on an RBI double by Hayden Eaton and got a bases-loaded walk from Oliver to stretch their lead to 9-6. With the bases still loaded, Young belted his second home run of the game to give Sequim a commanding 13-6 lead.
Johnnie Young finished 2 for 3 with two runs scored, seven RBIs and a walk. Michael Young was 1 for 4 with four stolen bases, a walk and three runs scored.
The Wolves scored their 13 runs on only eight hits as they walked nine times and stole a whopping 13 bases.
Oliver finished 1 for 2 with three runs scored, two RBIs, three walks and three stolen bases. Eaton was 1 for 2 with a double, two runs scored, an RBI, two walks and four stolen bases. Michael Grubb was 1 for 5 with a double and an RBI.
On the mound, Caleb Pozernick picked up the victory, going 3 2/3 innings in relief, giving up just two hits and one earned run while walking one batter.
Sequim (4-5, 9-7), fighting for a playoff spot in fourth place in the Olympic League 2A Division, returns to league action with a road game at Bremerton (1-7, 2-10) at 4:15 p.m. today.

Forks 8, Tenino 0
FORKS — The Forks Spartans vaulted themselves into first place all alone in the Evergreen 1A League with a dominating 8-0 win over Tenino.
Forks got four goals from Seth Johnson, his third hat trick of the season, and two goals from Luis Perez. Juan Pablo Flores scored a goal and Tenino scored an on-goal on a scrum in front of the net.
Hugo Sandoval also picked up an unusual assist by passing the ball to Perez on a penalty kick in the box. Tony Flores picked up two assists, both to Johnson. Gabe Terrones got the shutout in goal with three saves.
With the win, the Spartans are all by themselves in first place as Montesano was beaten Monday by Elma. The Spartans have seven league wins and seven points, while Montesano has seven league wins and six points (one of the Bulldogs’ wins was in a shootout).
Forks (7-1, 8-3) plays at Montesano (7-2, 7-6) at 7 p.m. today in what might be a match for the league championship. The Bulldogs beat the Spartans 2-0 in Forks earlier this season. The Spartans also have games left against Ilwaco, Raymond and a very important match against a good Elma team.
Coach Joe Morton said his players are becoming very serious as a league title is on the line.
“They’re taking care of business. They’re holding each other accountable to show up for practise. It’s nice to see,” Morton said.
Golf
Chimacum 201, Port Townsend 211
PORT LUDLOW — The Chimacum boys golf team edged rival Port Townsend 201-211 in a nine-hole match played at Port Ludlow Golf Course on Monday.
Logan Storm earned medalist honors for the Cowboys with a round of 45, finishing one stroke better than the Redhawks’ Jacob Madison (46).
Port Townsend’s Mackenzie Lake was third overall with a round of 47. Lake was the only girls golfer to play in Monday’s match. Her round did not count toward the Redhawks’ boys score.
Sean Storey added a 51 for Chimacum, Brayden Yingling shot a 52 and Gabe VanCamp added a 53.
Port Townsend’s team total also included Sam Boatman’s 53, Chris Durham’s 55 and Travis McConaghy’s 57.
“[The] boys played OK,” Cowboys coach Rachel Whittington said. “Logan was not on his game unfortunately, but we still scrambled through.”
