PREP ROUNDUP: Forks soccer remains perfect

PORT ANGELES — The Forks soccer squad remained undefeated on the season with a 5-0 win over the Sequim JV at Wally Sigmar Field at Peninsula College.

Forks not only hasn’t lost a match so far this year, the Spartans haven’t even given up a goal. They have outscored their opponents 29-0 on the season.

Keeper Gabriel Terrones picked up his fifth straight shutout, while Forks’ Hugo Sandoval had a fantastic game with four assists and a penalty kick goal.

Samuel Gomez had two goals, while Tony Hernandez-Flores and Oscar Gonzalez each scored goals.

Forks coach Joe Morton said it was a friendly game (not officially a friendly) because several of the Forks kids play with Sequim boys on the Storm King elite soccer team. He hopes that more games can be scheduled in future years between Sequim and Forks.

“Sequim was a good team, they definitely wanted to score on us,” said Forks coach Joe Morton.

Forks (0-0, 5-0) now begins Evergreen 1A League play, beginning Tuesday at Elma (after press deadline). While Forks started pre-league 5-0, Hoquiam appears to be a good team, starting 4-1. Forks doesn’t get to play Hoquaim until April 17.
