PORT TOWNSEND — East Jefferson track and field athletes dominated the field events as the boys and girls teams beat Klahowya in a dual meet this weekend.
The East Jefferson boys won 84-55, while the girls won 78-55.
Gina Brown was the biggest winner on the day, taking first in the shot put with a distance of 32 feet, 11½ inches, winning the event by nearly 7 feet. She also took first in the discus with a distance of 88-2.
Teammate Lia Poore won the triple jump with a distance of 28-8½ and took first in the 300 hurdles (though she was the only competitor in this event) in 57.80. East Jefferson’s Ellise Gardner won the javelin with a throw of 80-0, more than 24 feet beyond second place.

Boys Soccer
Sequim 4, Olympic 1
SILVERDALE — After giving up an early goal to Olympic, Sequim clamped down on defense and rallied for four goals, with Eli Gish having a role in three of them, to beat the Trojans 4-1 in the Wolves’ third game in four days.
Gish, who was just named a WIAA Athlete of the Week, had two goals and an assist.
Coach Ken Garling said the Trojans got on the board in the eighth minute on a rebound off Sequim keeper Trenton Rocha off a free kick. Garling said the Wolves’ defense didn’t allow Olympic any serious chances after that.
The Wolves got the equalizer in the 21st minute as Gish made a crossing pass to Brandon Charters, who booted the ball in directly. “It was a one-time volley right in the back of the net,” Garling said.
Gish picked up his first goal in the 28th minute, this time the recipient of a cross from Tyler Lawson, who picked up an assist.
In the second half, Brandon Wagner beat two defenders in the 57th minute and booted the ball in for an unassisted goal. “That was a nice individual effort,” Garling said.
The final goal in the 62nd minute was a free kick by Gish. From 35 yards out, Gish’s free kick went off the hands of the Olympic keeper for a long-range goal.
Jack Vandewege also played in goal for the Wolves. Garling thought other players who stood out were Harrison Bell on defense and JV player Keaton King, who came up to play varsity and did a good job.
Garling said the Wolves were very tired after three games in 96 hours. Sequim (3-0-1) gets a break for a few days over Easter week and plays again Thursday, hosting a tough, defensive team in East Jefferson (0-2-1) at 6:45 p.m.
Forks 10, Raymond 0
RAYMOND — Forks soccer improved its record to 3-0 with a 10-0 shutout over Raymond this weekend. Martin Silva and Arturo Dominguez each had a pair of goals to lead the Spartans in their Friday win.
Forks next plays at 5 p.m. April 12, hosting Hoquiam.
Softball
Sequim 12, North Kitsap 10
POULSBO — The Sequim softball team overcame a late seven-run inning by North Kitsap, rallying with a seven-run inning of its own to beat the Vikings 12-10 in eight innings.
The game was 2-0 in the fifth when the Wolves made a couple of errors and gave up seven runs to fall way behind, said coach Mike McFarlen. The Wolves responded with a seven-run inning in the sixth to go back up 9-7.
The Vikings rallied to tie it in the seventh. McFarlen said in the eighth, Sequim picked up a couple of runs by executing some hit and run plays.
“We put the game in motion and got some key hits,” he said.
McFarlen said Taylee Rome had a couple of clutch hits in the sixth and seventh innings, one of which was a double. Lily Fili went 3-for-4 with a double, Mia Pozernick went 2-for-4 with a double, Kailyn Lopez went 2-for-4 with a double and Christy Grubb was 2-for-4 with a double. McFarlen said Lainy Vig pitched the entire eight innings for the win.
It was the fifth game this year that the Wolves scored in double figures.
Sequim (5-1) plays at Bainbridge (1-3) today.
