PREP ROUNDUP: East Jefferson plays complete game in win over Life Christian

PORT TOWNSEND — East Jefferson controlled the ball, peppered the opposition’s goal with on-target shot attempts and ultimately produced one of the team’s best performances of the season in a 4-1 Nisqually League boys soccer win over Life Christian on Thursday at Memorial Field.

“I thought we played outstanding,” Rivals coach Logan Stegner said. “We had 24 shots overall and 17 were on target. …But our ability to switch fields, the 1-2 connections and our overall possession was the best its been all season.

Simon Barlow led the way with a pair of goals, while Grady White and Alan Morales also found the net for East Jefferson.

“Defensively, Finn Evans and Armando Sanchez played lights out. Life Christian has a really fast skilled player on the ball and defensively we were shutting them down. And Grady White and Crosby Pray were controlling the midfield all game.”

East Jefferson (1-2-0, 7-3-1) hosts Annie Wright on Tuesday.

Baseball Quilcene 8, Rainier Christian 3

QUILCENE — Oliver Hopkins threw a complete game four-hitter, striking out 11 batters while walking just one as the Rangers clinched the SeaTac League championship.

Hopkins also drove in a pair of runs along with Eli Allen and Logan Carstensen.

Quilcene (6-0, 9-0) visits Northwest Christian on Monday.

Cedar Park Christian 5, Sequim 4

SEQUIM — The Wolves stepped out of Olympic League play and fell to the Eagles on Thursday.

Ethan Staples was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Bryant Laboy tripled for Sequim (4-6, 4-11).

Softball Port Angeles 18, Bainbridge 0

PORT ANGELES — Lexie Smith, Lynzee Reid and Morgan Politika all hit home runs as the Riders blasted the Spartans.

Reid also earned the win in the circle, throwing three innings with one hit and three strikeouts.

Mariah Traband, Mikkhia Stevens, Sophia Ritchie and Kennedy Rognlien all recorded multi-hit game and Adi Richard doubled.

Port Angeles (8-0, 11-1) visits third-place Olympic (7-2, 12-2) on Monday.

Golf PA sweeps Bulldogs

PORT ANGELES — The Roughrider girls capped an unbeaten regular season and the boys improved to 9-1 after both beat North Mason to close out league play at Peninsula Golf Club on Thursday.

Autumn Wilson-Rowland shared match medalist with the Bulldogs’ Mari Morris with each shooting rounds of 47 but Port Angeles came out on top 204-218.

Claire Osterberg posted a 50 with Malena Marquez at 51. Freshman Lainey Rudd had her best round of the season with a 56. Layla Parker added a 61 and Mya Callis a 68.

Port Angeles edged North Mason 163-174 in the boys match.

Cale Wentz shot an even-par-36 to lead the Riders as match medalist. Austin Worthington added a 38, while Max Gagnon posted a 43 and Tate Alton and Kolby Charles tied at 46.

The boys and girls will compete at the Olympic League Championships at Kitsap Golf & Country Club on Monday.

Sequim tops Bucs

KINGSTON — The Wolves boys and girls won matches over the Buccaneers at White Horse Golf Club .

Raimey Brewer shot a 48 to earn medalist honors in the girls match which the Wolves won 219-279.

Kendra Dodson had a 50, Chloe Tweter shot 59 and Rachel McDougall 62.

Levi Breithaupt had a 48 to lead the Sequim boys while Talon Stover (57), Cody Dunscomb and Florentino Martinez each shot 58.
