SEATAC — The East Jefferson baseball team had big bats and great pitching in an 11-1 and 14-6 doubleheader sweep this weekend over Seattle Christian.
Brody Moore pitched the first game. Coach Ben Lazano said he didn’t allow a hit in four innings and Seattle Christian’s run came on an error and was unearned. Chris Fair pitched the final inning to close the game out.
Both games went five innings since it was a doubleheader.
Fair also hit a total of four doubles in the two games, while Owen Thornton nearly hit an out-of-the park home run that ended up going for a double. Aaron Glanz hit a triple.
Thornton pitched to earn the victory in the 14-6 game, only allowing two earned runs, Lazano said. Evan Kraft came in the bottom of the fifth with Seattle Christian threatening with the bases loaded and he struck out a Warriors hitter to end the game.
Lazano said he let a number of freshmen play in this second game, and they did well.
Nathan Nisbet, one of those freshmen, hit a double and a single, while Hayden Montgomery had a couple of singles. Ryan Turner also had a hit and scored a run.
Lazano said Lizzie Storm also got in the game [East Jefferson has no softball program this season] and she was able to beat out the throw to first on a dropped third strike.
East Jefferson (4-10, 6-10) next plays at home against Klahowya (12-4, 14-4) in Chimacum at 4:30 p.m. today.
Boys soccer
Forks 4, Eatonville 0
EATONVILLE — The Forks boys soccer team put itself in position to finish third in the Pacific 2B/1A League with a much-needed 4-0 win over Eatonville this weekend.
“It was a good bounce-back win,” said coach Ismael Ramos. “We need to win out, really.”
Jesus Garcia-Dominguez scored a pair of goals, while Ethan Bello and Abraham Montealegre scored. Starting goalkeeper Juan Terrones is out for the year with a fractured thumb, so Hector Garcia-Dominguez played keeper and earned the shutout.
With the win, the Spartans are at 7-4-0 in league, a game ahead of Tenino at 6-6 and two games ahead of Ilwaco at 5-6.
Forks will play at Ilwaco at 6 p.m. Monday. The Spartans beat the Fishermen 3-1 earlier this season, but Ramos said Ilwaco has added a couple of players since that game.
“I expect that it will be very close,” Ramos said.
The Spartans finish their regular season at Raymond on Wednesday. Ramos said that game could end up being a forfeit because Raymond only has nine players available.
Elma at 13-0 is the league’s No. 1 seed while Montesano at 9-3 appears to be the No. 2 seed.

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles girls tennis team had an exceptionally busy weekend, winning three matches in two days.
The Roughriders edged Olympic twice on Friday, both by the score of 4-3. One of those matches a completion of a partial rainout. They followed up by beating Kingston 5-1 on Saturday.
Against Kingston, No. 1 singles player Liberty Lauer won in straight sets without allowing a point, and the doubles team Waverly Mead/Kinnley Brady went to three sets (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) to win.
The doubles team of Cindy Liang and Gwyneth Van Blair won their match in straight sets, while the doubles team of Hannah Basden and Shannon Callahan had a close match, but fell in three sets to Kate McCabe and Kyle Sanstrom 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
The team of Bella Artis/Celeste Tucker also went to a tiebreaker to win in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (7-2).
Coach Stephanie Gochnour named Mead and Brady the players of the match for their tough win.
In the second Olympic match, Liang was named the player of the match for beating Emilyn Coulter 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. The doubles teams of Lauer/Brady and Gilian Wolfe/Sarah Hancock both won in straight sets.
In the makeup match finished beforehand, Port Angeles also ended up beating Olympic 4-3.
Lauer was named the player of the match for beating Bailey Washington in a marathon match 5-7, 7-6 (7-3), 10-4.
Singles player Basden and the doubles team of Bella Artis/Olivia Carrol won in straight sets. Tucker and Wolfe won in a forfeit.
