PREP ROUNDUP: Crescent boys basketball season begins with resounding win

JOYCE — The Crescent Loggers boys basketball team got its season off with a win over Lake Quinault, scoring 32 points in the third quarter in a 64-21 victory.

“The Loggers start off with a resounding win after playing a really outstanding second half,” said coach Chris Ferrer. “We were suffering from a little first game jitters, we missed some easy ones in the first half where we rushed the shot.

”We had some early-season turnovers in the first half and we have a whole slew of guys playing new roles this season. We didn’t make any adjustments at halftime, we just reinforced what we do, and the guys ramped up on defense and scored off our defense,” Ferrier said.

The Loggers went into the half up 22-14, then outscored Lake Quinault 32-2 in the third to turn it into a romp.

The Loggers had four players in double figures. They were led by Henry Bourm, who scored 18 points to go with 14 rebounds. Mikah Love scored 12, Levi Bourm 11 and Josh Noel 11.

Crescent (1-0) next plays Oakville at home at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
