PORT TOWNSEND — Chimacum’s Matthew Bainbridge had a monster game and a trio of Cowboys pitchers held Port Townsend to two hits in a 12-1 win to keep the Chimacum baseball team in first place in the Olympic League 1A Division.
Bainbridge had a busy day, going 3 for 3 with a double, a two-run triple, four total RBIs, two runs scored, two stolen bases and two walks. Teammate Issac Purser had a triple with two RBIs, two stolen bases, a run scored and two walks. Cody Clark added two hits for the Cowboys.
On the mound, Cole Dotson started the game and picked up the win, going 3 1/3 innings and giving up no runs on two hits with six strikeouts. Purser pitched a perfect 2 2/3, striking out five batters without giving up a hit or a walk. Bainbridge pitched the final inning, giving up a run on a walk and no hits.
Chimacum fielders also went error-free in the win.
Payton Lake and Marc Evans each had hits for Port Townsend.
Chimacum (2-0, 3-5) has a big game scheduled today, playing at home at 4 p.m. against Coupeville (2-0, 7-3) to see who remains in first place. Port Townsend (0-3, 0-6) hosts Klahowya (1-2, 2-7) at 4:15 p.m. Friday.

PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders won two out of three singles’ matches and split doubles matches with the Bulldogs, taking the match 4-3 for an Olympic League victory.
Singles players Hailey Morton and Emily Metzler each won their matches easily, while the doubles duos of Kailey Dros and Lum Fu and Madison Saiz and Paulina Crawford won theirs. Saiz and Crawford’s match was especially close, as they beat the duo of Elmira Morozova and Kayleigh Green 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) to earn players of the match honors from coach Stephanie Gochnour.
The doubles team of Saige Heston and Casandra Shamp had a close loss, falling to a North Mason duo by the score of 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4).
Port Angeles (4-3, 4-3) is next scheduled to play at Chimacum (1-4, 1-4) at 4 p.m. today.

PORT LUDLOW — The Cowboys’ Logan Storm and the Redhawks’ Jacob Madison each shot 8-over-par rounds of 44 to earn co-medalist honors in Monday’s match at Port Ludlow Golf Course.
Brayden Yingling (47) and Nate Miller (49) each added rounds in the 40s as Chimacum triumphed.
Sean Storey also contributed to the Cowboys’ victory with a score of 54.
Port Townsend’s Caleb Johnson added a 53 and teammate Chris Durham a 68 for the short-handed Redhawks.
Chimacum (2-3, 2-4) hosts Klahowya (2-2) on Thursday.
Port Townsend (0-5) travels to Olympic (2-0) on Thursday.

PORT LUDLOW — Mackenzie Lake nearly beat the Cowboys by herself with a strong showing of 10-over-par 46 in Monday’s match at Port Ludlow Golf Course.
Lake is the lone Redhawks’ girls golfer this season, and to achieve a team total three rounds of 72 are added to her score.
Lacey Bishop led Chimacum with a 62, Erin Crouch shot 63, Janae Murray a 65 and Delana Horner added a 68 for the Cowboys.
Chimacum (1-5) hosts Klahowya on Thursday.
Port Townsend (0-5) visits Olympic on Thursday.
