SEQUIM — The Sequim boys golf team claimed sole possession of first place in the Olympic League by taking down previously unbeaten Olympic 318-323 at Cedars at Dungness.
“[Thursday’s] golf match between undefeated Sequim and undefeated Olympic was predicted to be the match of the season and an extremely close match,” Wolves coach Bill Shea said.
“The boys did not disappoint with stellar play from both sides.”
Jack Shea earned medalist honors with a 2-under-par 70 for Sequim, beating out the Trojans’ C.J. Lagat by two strokes.
Jade Arnold shot a career-best round of 80 for the Wolves.
Blake Wiker carded an 82 for Sequim, and Josiah Carter shot an 86.
The Wolves (7-0) visit Bremerton (3-3) on Monday. They will claim at least a share of the league title if they beat the Knights.
Port Townsend 170, Port Angeles 204
PORT TOWNSEND — Senior Jacob Ralls led the Redhawks to a 34-stroke victory over the Roughriders on senior day at Port Townsend Golf Course.
Ralls shot a nine-hole round of 2-over-par 37 to earn match medalist honors Friday.
“It was very windy and raining and very, very tough conditions,” Port Angeles coach Gil Stockton said.
“Once again, our biggest area for improvement is consistency in our shot-making.”
Port Townsend senior Austin Khile was second overall with a round of 43 and Patrick Morton finished third after posting a 44.
Another senior, Sebastian Thomas, rounded out the Port Townsend scoring with a 46, good for a tie for fourth with Port Angeles’ top scorer Logan Kovalenko.
Parker Elias shot a 50, Mathew Locke carded a 51 and Kaleb Sheldon totaled a 57 to round out the Riders’ scores.
“We need to continue to work hard during our practice sessions on establishing the consistency that is required in order to shoot the low scores,” Stockton said.
Port Angeles (3-4) hosts Kingston (1-5, 2-5) on Monday.
Port Townsend (6-1) visits Olympic (6-1, 7-1) on Monday in a matchup of teams tied for second in the Olympic League standings.

SEQUIM — Alex McMenamin shot a 33 to earn medalist honors for the unbeaten Wolves in their win against the Trojans.
Sequim (7-0) can clinch a share of the Olympic League title with a win at Bremerton (5-1) on Monday.
Sarah Shea carded a 44 to tie for second with Olympic’s Ellie Wolf.
Sydney Balkan posted a 48 and Samantha Smith a 49 for the Wolves.
