SEQUIM — A rough night from the field felled the Sequim Wolves in a 38-34 Olympic League girls basketball loss to league-leading North Mason at home Tuesday.
Sequim (1-1, 1-2) connected on just 10-of-55 (18 percent) shots from the floor and 10-of-20 free throw attempts against the early season surprise Bulldogs (2-0, 4-0).
“We couldn’t buy a basket. It was a tough shooting night,” coach Joclin Julmist said.
Bobbi Mixon led Sequim with 10 points and seven rebounds. Libby Turella added nine points and 12 boards, and Hailey Wagner added five points and 10 rebounds.

BAINBRIDGE — After falling behind 23-9 early in the second quarter, the Roughriders produced what coach Michael Poindexter called their best basketball of the early season in a road loss to the Spartans.
“We expected that if we played well, the game would be close, and in the three quarters we played well, we had a two-point advantage. Our challenge will be to carry that level of play forward more consistently,” Poindexter said.
Sophomore Morgan Politika saw her first minutes of the season.
“This was our first game with Morgan Politika fully available, and her value was obvious. She finished with 10 points and six rebounds, in addition to playing solid defense,” Poindexter said. “Becca Manson was a defensive standout for us both in man-to-man, where she guarded the Spartans’ best player, Bella Ramirez and in our zone. Sariah Doherty had a strong game with 12 points and a good effort on defense and in rebounding.
Lindsay Smith led the Riders in rebounds (12), assists (five) and steals (six) and tied with Doherty as leading scorer.
Port Angeles (0-2, 1-3) visits Olympic (0-2, 0-4) on Friday.

SILVERDALE — The Port Angeles girls bowling team was shut out by Klahowya at All-Star Lanes on Tuesday.
While the Roughriders recorded some of their most consistent scores all season, it was not enough to beat the unbeaten Eagles.
Junior co-captains Zoey Van Gordon and Lizzy Clark paced the team in game one with scores of 141 and 138, respectively. Sophomore Xoey Penn kept the momentum going in the second game with a 142. Freshman Ivy Powless bowled a season-best 140.
Port Angeles hosts Olympic at Laurel Lanes at 2:45 p.m. today.
