BELFAIR — The Sequim girls basketball team, ranked No. 2 in Ratings Percentage Index in the state, kept its record perfect with an efficient 68-45 win over North Mason.
The Wolves got off to a 22-9 lead in the first quarter and then blew the game open with a 24-6 third quarter. They played without starter Jelissa Julmist.
Jolene Vaara had another big game, shooting 12-for-17 from the floor and scoring 25 points. Bobbi Mixon had one of her best games of the year with 14 points and four steals. Hannah Bates didn’t shoot great, but she scored 10 to go along with a whopping 13 assists.
Libby Turella added eight rebounds and Sammie Bacon had six points and six rebounds.
“The girls stepped up and played a great third quarter. Hannah played lockdown defense. Bobbi finally got it going. She scored all of her 14 points in the third quarter,” said coach Joclin Julmist.
“It was good to get everyone involved. [It was] a good team win,” Julmist said.
Sequim (11-0, 15-0) next hosts Kingston (0-11, 1-15) at 7 p.m. Friday.

Raymond 64, Forks 41
RAYMOND — The Forks girls basketball team lost its second straight league game with a 64-41 defeat against Raymond on Tuesday.
The Spartans got off to a slow start, falling behind 20-10 in the first to the No. 8-ranked 2B team in the state.
“Raymond came out ready to play and firing on all cylinders,” said Forks coach David Hurn. “We were a little late to the game.”
Keira Johnson led Forks with 16 points, while Kadie Wood had 10 and Kyra Neel nine.
Hurn said in the last two losses, the Spartans also lost to Ilwaco last week, they’ve gotten away from their game, which is playing with tempo and scoring in transition. The Spartans average 16 points a game in transition, but only had two points against Ilwaco and two against Raymond while running the floor.
“The good news is we’re still in first place,” Hurn said. Raymond, Forks and Ilwaco all have two losses in the Pacific 2B League. It’s possible that the Spartans could end up in a two- or even three-way tie for first.
The Spartans (8-2, 11-5) host Crescent at 7 p.m. tonight, then play at Onalaska on Saturday.

Crescent 65, Muckleshoot 22

OAKVILLE — The Crescent girls basketball team picked up two wins this week, crushing Oakville on Tuesday 50-26 and beating Muckleshoot on Monday 65-22.
Against Oakville, Naomii Sprague led the Loggers with 18 points and 12 steals. Kaylen Mason added nine points and Audrey Gales had eight.
In the Muckleshoot game, senior JoCy Kazlauskas had a great night on senior night with 12 points and nine steals.
Sprague had 12 points and eight steals, while Mason scored 10. Ciara Cargo-Acosta added nine points, while Makiah Clark and Gales each scored six.
Crescent seniors that were recognized included Mason, Clark, Kazlauskas and Abby Delong.
Port Angeles girls, East Jefferson postponed
The Port Angeles girls basketball game scheduled at Bainbridge for Tuesday was postponed to Feb. 4 due to illness within the Bainbridge team. East Jefferson’s scheduled game against Life Christian was postponed to 5:30 p.m. Monday in Port Townsend.
The East Jefferson boys game against Life Christian will be played at 7 p.m. Monday, also in Port Townsend.
