PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: [Updated] Neah Bay’s Ryana Moss MVP of all-state game and co-MVP for 1B hoops

SEATTLE — The accolades keep coming for Neah Bay’s Ryana and Cherish Moss.

Ryana Moss was named the 1B/2B All-State girls basketball game most valuable player Saturday. She was invited to play for the 1B team and contributed 20 points and 10 rebounds. She shot 5-for-11 on her 3-point shots and 7-for-16 overall.

Moss just won her second straight state championship for Neah Bay.

The all-state games were put on by the Washington State Girls Basketball Coaches’ Association at King’s High School. The WSGBCA also named Cherish Moss, the Neah Bay coach and Ryana’s older sister, as the 1B girls coach of the year.

Forks’ Keira Johnson also played in the same game for the 2B team. The Pacific 2B League MVP scored eight points to go with six rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The 1B team beat the 2B team 76-70.

One of Ryana Moss’s teammates, Allie Heino of Mount Vernon Christian, scored 11 points. Heino was named the 1B player of the year by the WSBGCA. The assocation later announced that Moss received the same number of votes for 1B player of the year and so she is the co-MVP for 1B girls basketball.

Neah Bay beat Mount Vernon Christian three times this year, including 39-28 in the 1B state championship game. Heino and her Hurricanes teammates beat Neah Bay in the 1B state championship game in 2022. The two teams also met in the 1B semifinals in 2023 with Neah Bay winning, so the Moss siblings and Heino know each other well.

Izzy Felton of Port Angeles played in the 1A/2A all-state game, also played at King’s High School. Felton shot 2-for-2 from the floor for four points and added three rebounds, a block and a steal. The 1A team beat the 2A team 100-60.
