Prep Football Update: Sequim, Montesano break century mark in points

Wolves can’t stop Klinger

SEQUIM – Sequim had no answer for Montesano running back Carson Klinger on Friday night.

The smooth striding junior running back scored seven touchdowns, five on the ground, one receiving and another on a 90-yard kick return as the Bulldogs kenneled the Wolves 66-34.

Sequim’s Gavin Velarde returned the opening kickoff 92 yards for a score, the first of three kick return touchdowns for the Wolves on the night.

Kyler Rollness added a 72-yard TD return and Curtis Gorr went 85 yards for Sequim’s final score of the night.

The game was close for much of the first half as the Wolves took advantage of two Montesano turnovers to stay with the Bulldogs.

Keeshawn Whitney’s 3-yard TD plunge cut the Montesano lead to 14-13 with 8:35 to go until intermission.

But the Bulldogs went on a 27-0 run keyed by two interceptions of Wolves’ quarterback Riley Cowan and a recovered kickoff to lead 41-13 at halftime.

The Wolves (1-1) visit Centralia next Friday.
