OLYMPIA — The Port Angeles football team will play Tumwater at 7 p.m. Friday at Tumwater District Stadium in the Roughriders’ state playoff opener.
Meanwhile, dates and times have also been set for the Port Angeles and Sequim girls soccer teams that are in the state playoffs.
Most of these games are expected to be streamed on the NFHS Network at nfhsnetwork.com.
The Roughriders (7-3, No. 15 Ratings Percentage Index) are making their first trip to state in more than a decade. They were seeded No. 16 in the 16-team 2A tournament even though there were two teams in the tournament — Ephrata and WF West that were lower in RPI. Tumwater (10-0) is the No. 1 seed.
The Port Angeles soccer team (11-6) was also seeded No. 16 in the state tournament and on Monday they were already traveling across the state to play No. 1 West Valley (Spokane) (18-0). That game will be at 5 p.m. today at University High School in Spokane.
Sequim (13-4) got a little better draw. The Wolves were seeded No. 10 and will play on the road at No. 7 Ridgefield at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Ridgefield High School.
Neah Bay (7-2) got a nice seed in the 1B state football playoffs as the Red Devils will not have to play a top three team until the state semifinals. Neah Bay is a No. 5 seed in the state 1B playoffs and will play No. 12 seed Winlock (5-4) at Forks High School at 5 p.m. Friday. The winner will get to play at No. 4 Liberty Christian next week.
In volleyball, the Neah Bay girls begin play Wednesday in the state 1B tournament at the Yakima SunDome on Wednesday. Neah Bay is seeded No. 2 at the tournament and begins play at 1:30 p.m. against the winner of Fellowship Christian and Columbia Adventist. The Red Devils play again at 9 p.m. if they win and 5:15 p.m. if they lose.
