KINGSTON — Sequim found out early in its 52-7 loss to Kingston what kind of game it was going to be.
After stalling an early Sequim drive, Kingston’s Ian Langsdorf was flipped over but still managed to block the punt with his heel while upside down.
As if that weren’t bad enough, the ball bounced into the end zone where teammate Tucker Burns recovered it for a touchdown.
“It was an ESPN highlight-type play,” Sequim offensive coordinator Dave Ditlefsen said.
“When you watch it on film, you kind of have to laugh.”
The senior-laden Buccaneers prevented the Wolves’ offense, which was without standout receiver Brett Wright, from gaining much ground throughout the game, as quarterbacks Miguel Moroles and Dylan Lott combined for just 61 yards and four interceptions.
“They were under pressure the entire time,” Ditlefsen said.
“Kingston’s defense forced those interceptions.”
Ty Jones had Sequim’s only touchdown, a 40-yard run in the third quarter. Jones finished with 42 yard on four carries.
Josiah Anastasi caught two passes for 22 yards and Cane Stoddard had two catches for 20 yards.
Despite the score, Ditlefsen said the Sequim defense had its best outing of the year against the Olympic League-leading Buccaneers.
The problem was that the Kingston offense was give short fields to start drives.
The Wolves stayed winless on the season at 0-6 overall and 0-4 in league play. They play at Klahowya on Friday.
Forks 41, Rainier 6
RAINIER — The Forks Spartans picked up a dominating 41-6 road win over Rainier in SWL-Evergreen Division football action.
Forks’ Dimitri Sampson set the tone with a 3-yard run for the game’s first touchdown, and Reece Moody hauled in a 34-yard touchdown pass from Javier Contreras to give the Spartans a 14-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Contreras added another score on a 39-yard run, and Moody scored again on a 3-yard run to give Forks a commanding 28-0 lead at half.
The Spartans kept rolling with a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter.
Miguel Morales ran for a 17-yard score and Contreras put the finishing touch on the dominant rushing performance with a school-record 97-yard touchdown run that made it 41-0.
Rainier denied Forks only a single conversion during the quarter, leaving the Spartans with a 41-0 lead going into the fourth.
The Mountainieers only points came on McKoy Bichler’s 9-yard pass to Dylan DuCharme in the fourth quarter.
Forks (2-1, 3-3) will face Rochester (3-1, 4-2) next Friday.
Eatonville 51, Chimacum 14
EATONVILLE — The Cowboys couldn’t recover from a rough start against the Cruisers.
Eatonville’s Jeff Patterson ran for 59 yards to deliver the first touchdown of the game. Ryan Franz added another two touchdowns and Goerge Tomao returned a punt 56 yards for another score.
Victor Hitt ran 30 yards in the fourth quarter for Chimacum’s first touchdown.
Travis Pennington also scored for the Cowboys on a 12-yard pass to Quinn Dowling.
Chimacum (0-2, 0-5) will square off against Charles Wright (2-1, 4-1) next Friday in Tacoma.
Lummi 71, Crescent 6
BELLINGHAM — The Blackhawks flexed their football muscles to the tune of 57 first half points, then got off the accelerator and coasted from there to a 71-6 romp over the visiting Loggers.
“Lummi again is the real deal. A very talented and class act team,” Crescent coach Darrell Yount said.
“[Jim] Sandusky gets the most out of his kids and they are very talented, so that makes for a wicked combination right there.”
Crescent’s lone score came on a 25-yard pass from Quenton Wolfer to KC Spencer in the second quarter.
The Loggers defense picked up two fumbles and a single interception.
Yount noted that Sandusky “also recognizes when enough is enough and gets off the gas as you would hope a coach would respond when they have superior talent. Always a great experience to play a Sandusky-coached team.”
The Loggers (0-2, 0-6) play Tulalip Heritage (0-1, 1-2) next Saturday in Marysville.
