BREMERTON — Sequim still controls its postseason future and has a great opportunity to gain even more control today against Olympic at Silverdale Stadium.
With a loss, the Wolves (2-2, 4-3) likely falls into a tiebreaker with Port Angeles (2-2, 4-3) or North Mason (2-3, 3-4), or both, after the regular season ends.
A win tonight doesn’t quite clinch a postseason spot, but it would give Sequim an inside track with only last-place Bremerton (0-4, 2-5) left on the schedule.
A win also would give the Wolves a good shot at a second-place finish in the Olympic League because Olympic (4-0, 5-2) faces seventh-ranked North Kitsap (4-0, 7-0) on the road next week.
That Halloween showdown will decide the league champion, regardless of what happens today between Sequim and Olympic and at Civic Field between North Kitsap and
Port Angeles.
That doesn’t make today’s matchup with the Wolves meaningless, though, because a loss probably means the Trojans would be playing for first or third place when they face the Vikings in Poulsbo next week.
The key for Sequim against Olympic once again will be stopping the run.
The Wolves are coming off two straight games against run-oriented teams, North Mason and Port Angeles, and they struggled to stop the run against both, at least for portions of each game.
Olympic also is dedicated to running the ball, and might be even better than the Roughriders and Bulldogs because the Trojans have comparable size but more speed than those two teams.

Aberdeen at Forks
FORKS — Senior night festivities are planned tonight for the Spartans (1-4, 2-5) seniors, including standouts Miguel Morales, Dimitri Sampson and Javier Contreras.
The Class 2A Bobcats (1-4, 1-6) have a poor record in a mostly 1A league this season, despite having one of the more hyped players in the 2016 NCAA recruiting class in linebacker/running back Joel Dublanko.
A four-star prospect, Dublanko holds scholarship offers from SEC schools like No. 1 Mississippi State and Tennessee, along with Washington State and Akron.
He has visited other Pac-12 programs as well, with Washington, Oregon, Oregon State and Stanford all showing interest.

North Kitsap at Port Angeles
PORT ANGELES — The Roughriders’ (2-2, 4-3) seniors are looking to pull off a huge upset in their final game at Civic Field tonight.
The Vikings (4-0, 7-0) have won their four Olympic League games by an average of 27.3 points per game, with their 33-13 win over Sequim being the closest of the four.
Chimacum at Port Townsend
PORT TOWNSEND — The Redhawks (4-1, 5-2) can clinch the Olympic League 1A title outright with a win over their rivals in the season’s second edition of the Quimper Quarrel tonight at Memorial Field.
The Cowboys (0-5, 0-7) are hobbling toward the finish line as injuries have piled up in recent weeks.
Clallam Bay at Tulalip Heritage
MARYSVILLE — The Bruins (1-2, 4-3) are out for revenge tonight for their tough-to-swallow homecoming loss to the Hawks (1-2, 3-3) last year.
Looking to take a two-score lead, Clallam Bay fumbled at Tulalip Heritage’s 3-yard line with 3 minutes to play and a 28-22 lead.
The Hawks marched down the field and scored with 4 seconds left to tie the game, then won 30-28 with a two-point conversion.
Crescent at Neah Bay
NEAH BAY — The top-ranked Red Devils’ (3-0, 7-0) seniors play the last home game of their careers against the young Loggers tonight.
After a couple of early season wins, Crescent (0-3, 2-5) has fallen on hard times in Northwest Football League play due to inexperience and a rash of injuries.
Seattle Lutheran at Quilcene
QUILCENE — The Rangers close out the regular season with a homecoming matchup with the Saints on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Quilcene (2-1, 5-2) clinches second place and a berth in the Quad-District playoffs with a win.
That seems likely, as Seattle Lutheran (0-2, 1-4) has averaged 10 points in four games since its season-opening 28-6 win over Mary M. Knight.
The Rangers, meanwhile have scored 48 points or more in all but two of their games this season.
