QUILCENE — Quilcene opened its SeaTac League schedule with a convincing 50-8 win over Rainier Christian.
The Rangers scored 22 points in each of the first two quarters to put the running clock into effect before halftime.
Colten Pol had another big game for Quilcene on Saturday, rushing for 218 yards on 16 carries and scoring two touchdowns.
But more and more as the season progresses, the Rangers are receiving nice contributions from more and more players.
Quarterback Eli Harrison ran for three scores and passed for two more.
He finished the day 2 of 3 passing for 36 yards and ran three times for 35 yards.
“Eli become’s quite the leader,” Quilcene coach Byron Wilson said.
Fullback Triston Williams gained 85 yards rushing on eight carries and A.J. Prater ran twice for 53 yards.
“We spread it out all over again,” Wilson said. “That kind of our team goal.”
Wilson was most thrilled with another stat from the game.
“Our emphasis has been discipline,” Wilson said.
“I don’t think we had any penalties. We’re pretty happy with that.”
The Rangers’ win sets up a showdown between the SeaTac League’s two favorites, Quilcene (1-0, 4-1) and Evergreen Lutheran (1-0, 2-3), this Saturday night at Franklin Pierce High School.
The Eagles routed Seattle Lutheran 56-22 on Saturday.

OAK HARBOR — The defending champions keep rolling, this time opening their Northwest Football League slate with a rout of the previously undefeated Lobos at Oak Harbor High School.
Cole Svec ran for touchdowns of 48, 12 and 68 yards for the top-ranked Red Devils, while freshman quarterback Rwehabura Munyagi Jr. threw for three scores and ran another in on a fourth-down play.
Two of Munyagi’s scoring strikes were to senior John Reamer, while the other went to Chris Martinez.
Neah Bay (1-0, 5-0) continue league play with a home game against Tulalip Heritage this Friday night.

MARYSVILLE — The Loggers’ injuries have mounted to the point that Saturday’s game at Marysville-Pilchuck High School didn’t quite last a full half.
Crescent lost two players to concussion-like symptoms, and taking into account those injuries among multiple others and the youth of his bench players, and after conferring with game officials, head coach Darrell Yount was prompted to make the unusual call for the contest to be ended midway through the second quarter.
“Our sideline was beginning to look like a M.A.S.H. unit,” Yount said.
“That was not a fun decision to make, but in regards to the circumstances, it was an easy and sensible decision for the welfare of our kids.
“We came in short handed to begin with. We suited 12, but five of those were small eighth graders and freshmen.”
Crescent now has six starters out with injuries.
Before the contest ended, senior Zach Fletcher was doing his best to keep the Loggers in the contest, leading the team in receiving, rushing, returns and defense.
He had already accounted for 120 all-purpose yards, six tackles and an interception.
But too much instant offense from a bigger, more powerful Tulalip squad, which took advantage of Crescent turnovers to turn short fields into quick and easy points to forge to an early advantage and the eventual 49-0 short-game win.
The road doesn’t get any easier for Crescent (2-3), as it attempts to get ready for this Saturday’s encounter with the fourth-ranked Lummi Blackhawks.
“Quite a challenge ahead, as we now prepare to run the gauntlet of state-ranked Lummi, Clallam Bay, defending state champion Neah Bay and state-ranked Lopez,” Yount said.
