PORT TOWNSEND — Port Townsend earned revenge for its loss to Coupeville last month with a 56-20 win over the Wolves at Memorial Field.
The Redhawks traded scoring punches with Coupeville for much of the first half Friday before a late scoring drive put Port Townsend up by 15 points at halftime.
“Jeff Seton completed about four passes to take us down the field, and we scored on about a 20-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Mason to put us up 35-20,” Redhawks coach Snyder said.
Port Townsend fed the Wolves a steady diet of beastly running backs David Sua and Wesley Wheeler.
“Sua and Wesley, we kind of pounded the ball with those guys, and we were getting like 10, 12, 15 yards at a clip,” Snyder said.
After some defensive adjustments at halftime, the Redhawks blanked Coupeville in the second half.
“The kids really stepped up and made plays,” Snyder said.
Ezra Easley had two interceptions, including one returned 20 yards for a Port Townsend score.
“Those are his third picks in two games,” Snyder said. “He just read it, came up and jumped the route and took off.”
Snyder said the Redhawks also scored on a punt return.
“[Scoring on] offense, defense and special teams, you can’t beat that,” Snyder said.
Port Townsend (3-1, 4-2) now faces Klahowya (3-1, 3-3) at Silverdale Stadium this Friday in a game that likely will decide the champion of the Olympic League 1A Division.
The Redhawks beat the Eagles 22-9 in their first meeting last month.

NEAH BAY — The top-ranked Red Devils’ two-point conversion game is on point heading their matchup with fourth-ranked Lummi.
Neah Bay was successful on all seven of its two-point attempts in Friday’s win over the Hawks (1-1, 3-2).
Cole Svec ran for four touchdowns for the Red Devils, Rwehabura Munyagi Jr. passed for touchdowns to Cameron Buzzell and John Reamer and Collin Haupt returned a kick 80 yards for another score.
Munyagi and Reamer also connected on three two-point conversion. Chris Martinez ran for two, and Elisha Winck and Munyagi each ran for a conversion.
Svec ran for 96 yards on eight touches and Martinez carried eight times for 87 yards as Neah Bay gained 281 yards on the ground.
Josh Monette led the Red Devils’ defense with 12 tackles, while Reamer had nine tackles and 3.5 sacks and Winck six tackles and three sacks.
Martinez had three pass deflections and a fumble recovery and Tommy Tyler recovered a fumble.
Neah Bay (2-0, 5-0) defeated Lummi (2-0, 4-2) 38-26 in a nonleague game at home last month, but this Friday’s game is in Bellingham and counts in the Northwest Football League standings.
And a lot has changed since that Week 2 meeting. For instance, the Red Devils were 1 for 6 on two-point conversions in that game.

ABERDEEN — The Eagles rolled up 503 rushing yards to power to a homecoming victory at Stewart Field.
Forks scored twice, each coming on passes from Javier Contreras to Cole Baysinger.
A wide-open Baysinger caught a 16-yarder on the right side of the end zone in the first quarter. Later, Baysinger nabbed an up-for-grabs pass over an Elma defender and strolled in for a 24-yard score.
The Spartans (1-3, 2-4) host Hoquiam (2-2, 3-3) on Friday.

SILVERDALE — The Cowboys’ struggles continued in Thursday’s loss against the Eagles (3-1, 3-3).
Ari Pape-Uphoff booted a 40-yard field goal for Chimacum in the second quarter.
Victor Hitt scored on a 16-yard rush in the fourth quarter and halfback Drew Yackulic connected with Brendon Naylor on a 38-yard pass late to account for the Cowboys’ (0-4, 0-6) scores.
