NEAH BAY — The class 1B state football championship game is set.
Neah Bay, appearing in its third consecutive state title game, will play the Touchet Indians at the Tacoma Dome on Friday at 4 p.m.
Touchet earned its spot in the championship in similar fashion to the Red Devils.
The third-ranked Indians trailed Rosalia 30-6 in the first half before going on a 56-6 scoring tear to beat the Spartans 62-36 in the 1B semifinal at Edgar Brown Stadium in Pasco on Saturday.
Neah Bay (11-0), in its semifinal game on Friday, spotted Lummi 14 early points before shutting down the Blackhawks and scoring 46 unanswered points in its 46-14 win at the Tacoma Dome.
Touchet (12-1) is making its first 1B title game appearance since losing to LaCrosse-Washtucna 38-6 in 2002, but the Indians are historically one of the most successful 8-man teams in the state.
They have played in eight previous 1B title games, winning four.
Touchet’s last championship was earned with a 42-36 win over Neah Bay in 1999.
Defending 1B champ Liberty Christian was the last team to beat both of this year’s finalists.
The Patriots beat the Red Devils in last year’s title game and handed the Indians their only loss of the season, a 26-8 setback in September.
Since then, Touchet has won all of its games by at least 22 points.
Neah Bay and Touchet have one common opponent this season: Odessa-Harrington.
The Red Devils beat the Titans 64-12 in Week 2.
The Indians opened the season with a 46-28 win over Odessa-Harrington, and last month eliminated the Titans from the postseason with a 68-14 win in the Bi-District playoffs.
