PREP FOOTBALL: Neah Bay and Port Townsend maintain rankings in AP poll; Quilcene receives votes

Port Townsend is ranked eighth in Class 1A in The Associated Press high school football poll that was released Wednesday.

It is the second straight week at No. 8 for the Redhawks (4-0), and their third consecutive week in the rankings.

Neah Bay (3-0) is ranked second in Class 1B, the same ranking it has held since the preseason. The Red Devils, though, have made up some ground on top-ranked Liberty Christian.

Neah Bay picked up two more first place votes this week, and now has four to Liberty Christian’s eight.

Quilcene (3-0) shows up for the first time in the 1B rankings as one of the teams receiving votes. The Rangers have 24 votes this week, which is the seventh most in the classification.

The Associated Press high school football poll is voted on by sportswriters from throughout the state, including the Peninsula Daily News.
