JOYCE — Playing in their first eight-man football game since 2019, the Crescent Loggers rode the legs of Wyatt Lee and Brayden Emery to wallop Muckleshoot Tribal 56-8 on Saturday.
The Loggers were forced to play a few six-man games this spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic and won a quickly arranged six-man game earlier this season 66-0 against Wishkah Valley (with only six total players available). But their last eight-man game was in November 2019.
Wyatt Lee responded with a monster game, rushing the ball 30 times for 266 yards and four touchdowns.
“He was definitely the offensive player of the game,” said coach Brian Shimko.
If that wasn’t good enough, he had 17 assisted tackles and 10 solo tackles on defense. He also had a sack and nine tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
Shimko said Lee doesn’t like six-man football because he specializes as a running back.
“He was really pumped up to play eight-man,” Shimko said.
Lee scored on runs of 39, 13, 5 and 2 yards. He also scored three two-point conversions for 30 total points.
Emery’s game was nearly as spectacular. He scored three touchdowns on runs of 5, 7 and 41 yards and had a two-point conversion for 20 total points. Emery finished with 60 yards rushing on seven carries.
Weston Hart also scored on a 13-yard run. He had 36 yards rushing on four carries.
On defense, Emery, Hart and Hayden Ferrel all had pass interceptions.
The Loggers are next scheduled to play at Concrete on Saturday in a matchup against a new league foe.
