PORT TOWNSEND — East Jefferson senior Logan Massie has been selected the Class 1A Nisqually League football MVP after totaling nearly 1,200 rushing yards offensively and recording 58 tackles with 10 sacks, a blocked punt and an interception this fall.
Massie ran for 1,170 yards and 10 touchdowns in nine games to lead the Rivals’ ground game. Defensively, Massie was fourth on the team in tackles and second in sacks for East Jefferson, which won the league championship and qualified for the state playoffs.
Massie’s MVP honor highlighted a number of Rivals players picked for the all-Nisqually League team.
Four East Jefferson players earned first-team honors: senior Anson Jones at running back and linebacker; senior Marshall Graves along the offensive line; senior Lonnie Kenney at defensive back, and junior defensive end Siaumau Auseuga earned a spot on the defensive line.
Jones rumbled for 520 yards and two TDs as East Jefferson’s fullback and was second on the team in tackles with 66 along with a sack. He also forced two fumbles, with one recovered, and intercepted a pass in eight games this season.
Auseuga led East Jefferson with 68 tackles, totaled four sacks and blocked a punt.
Auseuga also earned second-team honors at tight end after catching four passes for 94 yards and a TD. He also had a running TD this season.
Kenney had 14 tackles and led the Rivals with three interceptions, including a 105-yard return for a touchdown against Klahowya. He also was a second-team pick as a returner on special teams.
Other second-team picks for East Jefferson included senior offensive lineman Chris Fair, junior offensive lineman Sean Jones and senior defensive back Jerome Reaux Jr.
Honorable mention selections for the Rivals included junior offensive lineman Gerald Lindsey and sophomore linebacker Josiah Pennington.
East Jefferson head coach Tony Haddenham earned Coach of the Year honors after guiding the team to the league title and first round of state in his first season at the helm.
Life Christian senior Daishaun Nichols was the league’s choice for Offensive Player of the Year.
Klahowya’s Logan Wallis was picked as the Nisqually Defensive Player of the Year.
