PREP FOOTBALL: Dahlgren leads strong showing for Forks on all-league team

FORKS — Jack Dahlgren’s first-team selection on both offense and defense headlined a strong Forks contingent in Evergreen League all-league football team voting conducted recently league coaches.

Dahlgren, a senior spark plug for the Spartans, was named to the first-team offense as a tight end and also earned a first-team nod along the defensive line.

He was joined on the first-team offense by classmates Garrison Schumack at running back and Billy Palmer on the offensive line.

Fellow Forks senior Gavin Palmer earned a nod at defensive back on the league’s first-team defense.

There was no second-team for the five-team league.

Five Spartans earned honorable mention honors.

Senior Jeffrey Schumack was picked at running back and defensive back for Forks.

Sophomore Tristen Pisani was selected at running back, junior Cole Baysinger at wide receiver and junior Luke Dahlgren and sophomore Iziah Morton were offensive line honorees.

Hoquiam’s cat-quick running back/linebacker Artimus Johnson was voted the Evergreen League’s Most Valuable Player.

The league champion Montesano Bulldogs accounted for the other three top awards. Montesano’s Carson Klinger was named Offensive MVP, while Taylor Rupe, anchor of a stout Bulldogs’ defensive line, was voted Defensive MVP.

Montesano head coach Terry Jensen was honored with the Coach of the Year Award after guiding the Bulldogs to a 10-0 record and a state playoff berth.
