JOYCE — The Crescent Loggers won their first-round football playoff 64-6 game against Mary M. Knight and qualified for a game against power Lummi with a shot at going to the 1B 8-man state tournament on the line.
It was also the 10th win of the year for the Loggers. Noah Leonard had five touchdowns for Crescent, giving him 15 TDs over the past two weeks.
Leonard ran the ball 11 times for 145 yards and had scoring runs of 27, 44, 16, 6 and 10 yards. He also had two quarterback sacks and four QB pressures on defense.
Eric Emery also ran 12 times for 117 yards and passed for another 154 yards and two TDs. Eighth-grader Brenton Dalton had four catches for 93 yards and scored two touchdowns. He also caught three more passes for two-point conversions.
Braden Emery ran the ball five times for 62 yards.
It was the second straight win over Mary M. Knight for the Loggers, who outscored the Owls 150-34.
Coach Brian Shimko said Eric Emery had a good game on defense with an interception and three deflections.
The Loggers (5-0, 10-2) will face Lummi (4-3, 8-3) in the 1B Quad-District second-round playoff at Lummi at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Cascade Christian 40, Port Townsend 0
PUYALLUP — The Redhawks were beaten by Olympic/Nisqually 1A League champion Cascade Christian 40-0 on the road in their season finale Saturday night.
Coach Patrick Gaffney said Cascade Christian is a very good team with a lot of speed on defense.
Port Townsend finishes the season 3-3 in league and 4-6 overall, missing out on the postseason as only two teams — Cascade Christian and Olympic champion Klahowya — were awarded state 1A berths from the Olympic/Nisqually combined league. The Redhawks finished second in the Olympic 1A League and fourth in the Olympic/Nisqually 1A League.
Gaffney said he had hoped the Redhawks could finish .500 on the season coming in.
“Overall, we fell a little short. We won games we should have won and we competed in a few we lost,” he said.
Gaffney said he was happy with the effort put in by his players. He and his coaching staff had to take over right before the beginning of the season as former coach Alex Heilig moved on.
“We can do better next year when we have a full offseason,” Gaffney said. He said the Redhawks are losing some good players to graduation, such as Nico Winegar, Aidan Falge, Cole Crawford, Chase Campbell, Cody Markel and Emil Makkula.
However, Port Townsend does get quarterack Noa Montoya back, as well as running backs Dylan Tracer and Jerome Reaux Jr.
Sequim to play Steilacoom
SEQUIM — The Wolves learned Sunday that they are a No. 8 seed in the State 2A football tournament and that they will play No. 9 seed Steilacoom.
Steilacoom won the South Puget Sound League’s Sound Division with a 6-1 record. The Sentinels’ 9-1 overall record is identical to Sequim’s record. Steilacoom beat Orting 42-8 in district playoffs.
Sequim coach Erik Wiker said he knows the Sentinels are very athletic and will be watching film this week. He was also happy with the No. 8 seed.
“I knew we would be somewhere in the middle [seeds],” he said. Being a No. 8 seed means the Wolves will ostensibly play an evenly matched opponent in the first round of state.
Sequim (9-1) doesn’t know yet the date, time or location of the game, but the Wolves are hoping for a game in Kitsap County. The Wolves expect to learn the venue sometime today.
North Kitsap from the Olympic 2A seed is a No. 10 seed and is playing Fife, which beat Port Angeles in its district playoff.
The No. 1 seed is undefeated Hockinson out of Vancouver and if the Wolves beat Steilacoom, that is likely their next opponent.
