PREP FOOTBALL: Clallam Bay rolls 72-38

TACOMA — The Clallam Bay Bruins got nearly 400 total yards from Ryan McCoy and a combined eight touchdowns from McCoy and Ryan Strid in a 72-38 6-man football win over Evergreen Lutheran.

The Bruins (1-1) scored 33 points in the first quarter and 51 by halftime and never looked back for their first win of the year.

“It was a good win. My fellows played pretty well for me. They should be proud,” said coach Cal Ritter.

McCoy, a workhorse on both sides of the field, had 208 yards rushing on 12 rushes, sic receptions for 127 yards and a 55-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. He scored four TDs total and had 12 tackles on defense.

“He had a great day. He’s a machine. He never stops,” Ritter said.

Not be be outdone, quarterback Ryan Strid was 8-11 passing for 131 yards and rushed for 160 yards on seven carries. He also had a 60-yard kickoff return for a TD. He also had four total TDs.

Anthony McGraw rushed seven times for 27 yards and a touchdown while Eric Strid rushed three times for 10 yards and a touchdown.

Ritter said other players deserve kudos, as well.

“Kalin Duncan stepped up on defense with a couple of sacks,” he said.

Colin Aldana also had two catches and Michael Litleton had a rush.

The Bruins travel to Tulalip to take on the Hawks at 1 p.m. Saturday.
