BREMERTON — High-powered Bremerton broke open a close contest after halftime and handed previously undefeated Sequim its first loss of the season 77-60, in a showdown for the top spot in the Olympic League boys basketball standings.
Jericho Julmist scored 29 for the Wolves and Solomon Sheppard added 18, but it was tough going for much of the night for the rest of the Sequim roster.
Knights star Jalen Davis was recognized for scoring his 1,000th career point in the first half. The son of head coach Miah Davis, Jalen hit for 32 points, 11 in the third quarter, as Bremerton took control heading to the final frame.
It was the first time this season that the Wolves had yielded more than 50 points in a contest.
Sequim (6-1, 10-1) will look to bounce back at home against Kingston (1-6, 3-10) at 7 p.m. Friday.

KINGSTON — Missing senior star Gus Halberg, the Roughriders stumbled on the road against the perimeter-powered Buccaneers on Tuesday.
Kingston connected on 11-of-16 3-point attempts in the first half and 16 total triples for the contest.
Port Angeles, coming off a Monday win at Neah Bay, didn’t have the same level of energy the next night.
“I think we were unfortunately a little fatigued getting home late after a big game,” coach Kasey Ulin said. “We came out flat and lacked intensity. They hit 11 3s, although we were OK defensively. They just made tough shots, got confidence and then they couldn’t miss.”
Halberg leads Port Angeles in every major statistical category.
“We also played without Gus, which was difficult. He leads us in [points], assists, steals and rebounds. We definitely missed him.”
Keatyn Hoch led the Riders with 15 points and six rebounds.
Brody Pierce added eight points, four rebounds and four steals, and Brock Hope also scored eight points.
“Keatyn played well for us,” Ulin said. “Brody brought energy off the bench, and Brock had a solid night playing through constant double and triple teams.”
Port Angeles (1-6, 5-8) visits North Mason (3-4, 6-6) on Friday.

CHIMACUM — After beating Charles Wright at home Monday, the Rivals struggled in their second contest in as many days against the Warriors at Chimacum High School on Tuesday.
John Richard Mercado led East Jefferson with 13 points.
The Rivals (1-0, 4-7) host Vashon (1-2, 3-7) at 7 p.m. on Friday in Chimacum.
