PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend boys hit nine 3-pointers and had three players in double figures in a 65-45 win over Blaine in the opener of the Crush in the Slush.
Noa Montoya hit four 3-pointers and led the Redhawks with 20 points in Friday night’s win. Jacob Boucher hit three 3-pointers and scored 17, while Kaiden Parcher had a great all-around game with 13 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and four steals.
Coach Tom Webster said Blaine was a big team with players at 6-foot-4, 6-5 and 6-7, but the Redhawks countered with good outside shooting. Webster said any time a team can get three players in double figures, it will usually win.
The Redhawks (1-1, 4-4) played Saturday night against Overlake in the concluding game of the Crush in the Slush Tournament. That game was after press deadline. Webster said Overlake looked pretty good in its 61-36 win over LaConner on Friday.

Port Angeles at the Sundome Shootout
YAKIMA — Going up against two tough 3A teams at the SunDome Shootout, the Port Angeles basketball boys lost a squeaker in overtime 60-59 to Southridge on Friday night and got beaten by a powerful Prairie team 77-37 on Thursday.
“It was a great experience to play in the SunDome. Prairie is one of the better teams in 3A (they are ranked No. 14 in the RPI among 3A teams). I’m happy with the weekend, we’ll be better because of it. We threw them into the fire a bit,” said coach Kasey Ulin.
Ulin thinks Prairie is more powerful than that No. 14 ranking. He was happy with how his players responded Friday night after the bad loss. “We controlled the majority of that [Southridge] game. Unfortunately, we let them hang around and it came down to the final possession.”
Port Angeles (2-1, 6-5) will return to league play this week. The Roughriders next play at Bremerton at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Crescent Holiday Tournament
JOYCE — The Crescent boys swept two games at the Crescent Holiday Tournament, stretching their winning streak to four games.
The Loggers beat Christian Faith 49-39 on Friday and hung on to edge Shoreline Christian 43-42 on Thursday.
The Shoreline Christian game was close throughout, while Crescent jumped out to a huge 36-17 halftime lead against Christian Faith.
KC Spencer led the Loggers in scoring in both games. He scored 18 against Christian Faith to go along with seven rebounds and poured in 20 against Shoreline Christian.
In the Christian Faith game, Eric Emery scored seven points, while Kylan Scheid and Brendan Bergstrom each scored six. Against Shoreline Christian, Robert Cox scored eight and Timmy Ward grabbed 10 rebounds.
Crescent (5-4) has won five out of its last six games. The Loggers next play at home at 7:15 p.m. Friday against Neah Bay.
