SEQUIM— After a rough Cloud 9 Tournament in Lynden, the Sequim basketball boys got back on the winning track, knocking off 3A Central Kitsap in a close one 57-55 at home.
With Friday’s win, the Wolves snapped a two-game losing streak. Isaiah Moore hit 8 out of 9 free throws and led the Wolves with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Erik Christiansen had 13 points and eight rebounds, while Hayden Eaton had eight points and eight rebounds. Riley Chen hit three 3-pointers for nine points, while Dallin Despain was all 3s, with three rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocks.
Cole Smithson only had two points, but they were crucial as they came on two free throws with less than a minute in the game.
The Wolves overcame a rough third quarter. The Wolves took a 31-26 lead into the half but had a rough third quarter, as they were outscored 11-6 in the third for a 37-37 tie heading into the fourth. Sequim outscored Central 20-18 in a high-scoring fourth.
Sequim (2-1, 7-3) has a huge Olympic League 2A Division game at North Kitsap (2-1, 7-2) on Tuesday as the Wolves could move into a tie for second place with a win.

EDMONDS — The Sequim girls were down just two points entering the fourth quarter against 3A Edmonds-Woodway, a first-place 3A team out of the Wesco League.
But the Warriors hit some clutch 3-pointers in the fourth and scored 22 points over the final 8 minutes in Thursday’s game to pull away for a 58-48 win. It was just Sequim’s second loss of the year.
“The game was a battle but we struggled to get into a flow on offense and they hit some clutch 3s in the fourth quarter. We are learning a lot about ourselves over this winter break and what adjustments we need to make to improve our game for league,” said coach Linsay Rapelje.
Jayla Julmist led the Wolves with a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds. Kalli Wiker and Hannah Bates each scored eight points and Hope Glasser scored seven.
Sequim (3-0, 7-2) played at a powerful Tumwater team (0-0, 9-0) Saturday night after press deadline. Tumwater is ranked No. 4 in the state among 2A teams in the latest RPI rankings.
The Wolves return to Olympic League 2A Division with a game at North Kitsap (2-1, 5-4) at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Chimacum 29, Vashon 22
CHIMACUM — The Chimacum girls overcame a 5-point second half, holding on to beat Vashon 29-22 in a defensive battle.
Fortunately for the Cowboys, they built up a big first-half lead of 24-10 in Thursday’s game, giving them a cushion when they struggled to score in the second half.
Katie Clark did a good job of working the ball to out post players” in the first half, said coach Trevor Huntingford.
After halftime, Vashon shifted its defense and the Cowboys “had trouble with our spacing.”
“Frankly, after the winter break and the long layoff, we got a little tired in the third and fourth quarters,” Huntingford said. “We lost a little bit of focus.”
Jadeah Nordberg led the Cowboys with 12 points, while Clark scored seven.
Chimacum was supposed to play Coupeville on Friday, but that game was postponed due to high winds canceling sailings from Whidbey Island.
The Cowboys (0-2, 3-4) will host Crescent (2-2) at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
