BELLEVUE — The Sequim boys basketball team dropped its third straight game with a 60-45 loss on the road to the Sammamish Totems.
The Wolves return to the comforts of Olympic League play next Tuesday with a game against North Mason in Belfair.
Sammamish held an 18-11 lead after one quarter Tuesday and slowly pulled away from there.
Sequim went 0-2 on its two-day road trip to the Seattle area, also falling to Ingraham on Monday.
Alex Barry paced the Wolves with 16 points, Bailey Earley scored 13 and Vance Willis and Payton Glasser added five apiece.
Barry, Earley and Jackson Oliver led Sequim in rebounding with six each.
The Wolves were again playing without key guard Dusty Bates due to injury.
Noah Jackson led the Totems with 22 points.
Sequim (2-1, 5-4) hits the ground running after winter break.
After North Mason on Tuesday, the Wolves travel to face Neah Bay on Wednesday in a showdown of two of the area’s best teams, if not the two best. They then host rival Port Angeles on Friday, Jan. 9.

EVERETT — Hunter Hathaway’s monster game wasn’t enough for the Roughriders against the Wildcats.
Hathaway scored 20 points and pulled down 17 rebounds in Tuesday’s loss, Port Angeles’ fourth in a row.
Luke Angevine also reached double figures for the Riders with 10 points.
“Another tough opponent on the road for us. Archbishop is a very good team,” Port Angeles coach Kasey Ulin said.
“These games are preparing for us league, and even though we lost I believe we are getting better.
“The kids played hard and we are looking forward to getting to play at home on Friday.”
Port Angeles (3-5) plays only its second home game of the season Friday when it hosts St. Michaels, B.C., at 5 p.m.

TUMWATER — The Roughriders played the sixth-ranked Wolves fairly close for three quarters, but a hiccup in the second quarter was too much to overcome.
Port Angeles led 12-10 after one quarter, but was outscored 15-2 in the second period.
“We played three solid quarters against Black Hills, who is 8-1 on the season and is the best team we have played thus far,” Riders coach Mike Poindexter said of Tuesday’s game.
“In the second quarter, we lacked patience offensively and failed to stop Black Hills from getting transition baskets.”
Hayley Baxley topped Port Angeles with 13 points.
“Hayley was effective at driving to the basket against the Wolves’ aggressive defense, and she hit two three-point shots,” Poindexter said.
Nizhoni Wheeler had a nice all-around game with six points, seven rebounds and four steals.
Maddie Boe contributed four assists and four steals, and Emily Johnson had three steals.
Points were tough to come by for Port Angeles.
Black Hills out-shot the Riders 56 percent to 30 percent from the field (and 75 percent to 25 percent from the free-throw line).
The Wolves also scored 10 points in transition off Port Angeles turnovers.
“We had seven easy scoring opportunities inside but didn’t score due to missed lay-ins or turnovers,” Poindexter said.
“Our defense was again solid enough for us to be competitive, good enough to give us a chance to win.
“Reducing our perimeter turnovers and making shots inside would have made it a close game.
“Defensively, we did an outstanding job of taking away Black Hills’ effective post game and forcing Black Hills to work hard for shots.”
The Riders (0-2, 3-6) resume league play Tuesday, Jan. 6, at North Kitsap (1-2, 3-2).
