PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Spartans crush South Bend

Forks Spartans

FORKS — Forks rolled past South Bend 64-17 in a Class 2B Pacific League boys basketball contest on Tuesday night.

The Spartans were up 30-2 after the first quarter and 45-5 at halftime against the Indians.

“We wanted to have that killer mindset, and it was nice to go out there and do what they were supposed to do — start fast, be aggressive and be the dominant team on the court,” Forks coach Rick Gooding said.

Logan Olson led the Spartans (6-2, 7-6) with 19 points. Riley Pursley scored eight of his 11 points in the first quarter. Ashton Doyle added 10 for Forks as 11 of 12 Spartans scored.

“It was nice to get everybody involved. Everybody contributed, and it led to us getting some different rotations and getting kids a chance to play,” Gooding said.

After an 0-3 start to the season, Forks has gone 7-3 since. The Spartans are scheduled to visit league-leading Ilwaco (9-1, 11-1) tonight.
