ABERDEEN — Marky Adams won the battle of big men, but the Bobcats won the battle of Evergreen League teams.
Adams, 6-foot-8, scored 16 points for the Spartans on Friday and held Aberdeen’s 6-foot-6 post Chandler Craig to nine.
“Marky had a really good game,” Forks coach Rick Gooding said.
“They got a big kid, Craig, who’s a real dominant kid, and Marky actually did a pretty good job defensively on him. So that was cool to see.”
Adams scored eight of his 16 points in the first quarter. Unfortunately, the Spartans only had three other points in the period and were outscored 20-11.
Forks fought back and got within two points in the fourth quarter before the Bobcats pulled away.
“It was a two-point game in the fourth quarter, we just, we didn’t execute, do the things we needed to do,” Gooding said.
Victor Gomez and Mark James each had 14 points to lead Aberdeen (9-1, 12-3).
Forks (4-7, 6-10) plays at Tenino (1-10, 3-11) on Monday. The Beavers picked up their only league win of the season by beating the Spartans 49-45 in Forks last month.
