BURLINGTON — Despite a hot shooting night from Mikkiah Brady, the Port Angeles girls fell on the road to a good Burlington-Edison team 66-62.
Brady had four 3-pointers in the third quarter and led the Roughriders with 17 points. Eve Burke, playing inside against a big Burlington team, had 16 points.
Burlington-Edison qualified for the state 2A tournament last year.
“It was a tough, physical game with a number of runs by both teams,” said assistant coach Jennifer Rogers.
Bailee Larson added 12 points and Jaida Wood seven for the Riders.
Port Angeles (1-1) next hosts Lynden (2-0) at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in what should be another tough game for the Riders.

JOYCE — The Loggers moved to 2-0 on the season with a 32-12 win against Wishkah Valley on Saturday.
Crescent’s Cydne Moore led the way with 16 points, followed by Ciara Cargo with eight. Cargo also had eight steals. Mackenzie Belford scored four.
Crescent (2-0) next plays at Forks (1-0) at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Boys Basketball Crescent 71, Wishkah Valley 15
JOYCE — The Crescent basketball boys got 24 points from Gabe Ritchie and walloped a young Wishkah Valley team 71-15 to go 2-0 on the season.
“We were able to get easy shots and converted early. Our bench got a lot of playing time and did a lot of good things,” said coach Chris Ferrier. “It was a chance to work on some things that we need to improve upon and we got a little better today.
“Austin Sage was fabulous off the bench and Colton O’Neel was a presence inside. Gabe Ritchie led us in points and didn’t force anything all game,” Ferrier said.
Sage scored 13 points, while Brandon Bergstrom had 14.
The Loggers shot 7 for 13 from 3-point range.
Crescent (2-0) next plays at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Forks (1-0).

FIFE — The Sequim boys were beaten on the road by Fife 55-39.
Erik Christiansen paced the Wolves qith 14 points, six rebounds and three steals, while Riley Chen had nine points and Isaiah Moore seven. Moore led the team with seven rebounds.
Sequim (2-1) will next play at home at 7:15 p.m. today against Port Townsend (0-1).
In other Saturday scores, Port Angeles lost to Burlington-Edison on the road 59-56 and Neah Bay lost to Mount Vernon Christian 69-43. Details on those games were not available.
